    Dear Members,

We all know that India has CSD against Pakistan; similarly do we have any strategy against China? Or does China have any strategy against India.

Request learned member to participate & answer the queries.

    Regards,

I think there is no such plan. Its also difficult due to hilly terrain on the borders.

But its possible to have sectoral Cold Start type Doctrines. Fast Ingresses into strategic areas, and egresses from less tactical areas. And quick panic/trigger button fingers would certainly limit the exchange.

Havent heard about any CSD for China since China is a different game because of territory and aim.

However more troops are deployed and 2 mountain divisions as well in plan.Few Sukhois deployed long ago.Total of about 100,000+ troops in NE I guess.

unless our tanks can fly, no such thing, we are short of everything against China, only nukes, missiles and SU 30 MKI are keeping Chinese off. May be in future large numbers of nirbhay missiles too will add to list.

So you mean to say that India does not have any strategy against china so its only defense against chinese.

No, we are really far behind the chinese. First we have to throw this useless GoI and then get a GOOD LEADER to lead us and then get indigenous Arms and ammunition's and all other equipment to at least 60% rather than importing 70% from foreign countries. Then we have to increase our numbers, then we have to have a STRONG DOCTRINE and after all these things are completed then we can think of a cold start doctrine against china....

It is not the question of our tanks not flying, the chinese tanks also do not fly.

If only missiles would suffice why would India create a new MSC and raise more addional divisions in recent past. In mountains, man is the most important weapn and requirement. No one wins a war in mountains or even otherwise witout foot on ground, artillary, hellocopters and even mules.

Ha Ha Ha .... that is brilliant !

Like Chinese did in 1962. When US and USSR were stuck in Cuban missile crisisis, they attacked India.

We cant take any offensive action against a bigger and stronger enemy without any major reason. All we basically need for now is putting up strength which can successfully defend and may be counter attack any pre-emptive attack.

We are not suicide bombers like our western neighbour who overestimates its strength all the time.

You are partly wrong. We indeed are short of Chinese in terms of logistics. But there are certain advantages we yield, even today.

The Chinese have upwards of 200,000 infantry stationed in Tibet as against around 100,000 of ours stationed in NE. Then we have an armored brigade stationed in Ladakh alongwith some infantry formations. To add to this will be the new Strike corps based in Panagarh, taking the number up by 40-60,000. Mountain warfare calls for a minimum ratio of 1:10 and preferably 1:15 for the attackers. China is unlikely to generate this ratio unless it moves its formations from the Eastern seaboard, an impossibility.

Now the Chinese have far better logistics on their side, as compared to ours, enabling them to move in 30 divisions in 24 hours. Here again lies another hidden problem for the PLA. They can very well move in their army like the flood, but how do they supply them. It is a given that the first attack by our missiles and strike aitcraft will be against logistics lines and ammunition and fuel dumps. Without supplies even a milkion men army grinds to a halt, let alone in a arid desert of snow and ice.

We dont have similar road network, but we have a vey long and established record of maintaining bases and forward troops by air supply. The PLAAF has in its inventory some 80 cargo/transport aircraft as against 256 of ours. And our number is slated to rise, alongwith the airlift ability in terms of payload. This is not something that can be wished away by PLA planners.

In simple terms, neither side can walk onto the other territory. The Chinese cant storm in, and we most certainly cant invade them.

Will Indian Army/Airforce be able to hold-on to it's defensive posture in North East when attacked by Chinese or you see a repetition of 1962 ?

@Bhadra if you think next war with Chini will be same as 1962, you are grossly mistaken. This time it will short war of missiles and who so ever has upper hand in tech and quantity will win it.

We lack long range cruise missiles and China has almost everything in quantity. Plus they have Pak to create trouble for us.

If we do not have a strong strategy in place against China than How do you all explain as to why and for what are we raising two new Mountain strike corps, more Special forces which are china specific, Inducting light tanks and Howitzers, More attack choppers for specially China border and why are we improving the infrastructure, airfields, roads, rails and Transport aircraft which can land and take off with huge loads in those areas. Does this not point to a possible CSD for mountain warfare along Indo-China Border?

I thought all that was done for stronger defenses. Why do we need to CSD for China in the first place? In fact they should have something like CSD since they claim Arunachal as their land. I thought CSD was specific to pakhana-land since we wanted to punish them in a swift manner owing to the conventional difference in our capabilities.
