CoAS of Nepal leaves for India

    KATHMANDU: Chief of Army Staff (CoAS) General Gaurav Shumsher Rana on Sunday leftfor a nine-day official visit to India. Rana is scheduled to receive the honourary rank of General of the Indian Army from Indian President Pranab Mukherjee. Nepali and Indian armies have a tradition of conferring the rank of honourary general on each other’s chiefs. Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Nepal Bhushan Chand saw off General Rana at TIA. The Deputy Chief of Mission of Indian Embassy in Kathmandu was also present on the occasion. Rana is accompaniedby an eight-member delegation. Rana will hold an official meeting with Indian Defence Minister A K Antony on Monday. During his visit, General Rana will also meet the Field Marshal, Chief of theAir staff, Chief of the Naval Staff and other high ranking officials of the Indian Army.
