Milk consumption has gone up in China is a live possibility given the rise in prosperity of the average Chinese citizen.

If this article is correct, China does not have large farmers cooperative that are privately owned like what is there in India i.e. Amul. that would make private diary business profitable.

However, the common Chinese people are also aware of the keen avarice that fuels Chinese entrepreneurship. The result of which was the Milk scandal where melamine was added to enhance profits, inspite of strict Government control. That is why they are now preferring foreign milk to the Chinese variety, forcing the Chinese dairy industry into producing only finished products like yoghurt and the like.

This is proving to be a boon for foreign exporters to China.

Perhaps an application for the irradiation of milk for preservation. It never caught on in the US.
