I think media / entertainment industry has done much in shaping people's "aesthetics" , or what a good looking is. Japanese movies were once very popular in China At that time dark-skinned tough guys like Takakura were well received. But now pale skin takes the wind as Korean movies dominate our screens

Actually many Chinese are dark skinned ourselves in real life (like steorotyped Cantonese). And many Chinese girls have big boobs. It depends on their origins.

Chinese community there is mostly of Cantonese origin, or of Teochow or of Hakka (like Ex Premier Lee Kwan Yew).

Whatever the likes or dislikes of Chinese people, one thing I cannot stand is the fashion of many East Asians to colour their hair blonde/brunette etc.

But as a Nation or business folks they are aggressive and not always ethical (as per accepted business deals).

Like it or not, they do sincerely feel that their culture and heritage is far far superior to any other and hence the feeling that they are xenophobic.

Indeed the Han culture was comparatively sophisticated to the areas they captured and spread the Han culture through which they assimilated the people they captured.

For instance the Yues. Yue were considered by the Han as barbarians because they had tattoos, lived in primitive conditions, and lacked such technology as bows, arrows, horses and chariots

The new found economic strength of China leading to an aggressive zeal to expand is what is making the Chinese appear hostile to the world, and as a reaction, they are being considered hostile, in turn, to the world.

I do feel Chinese culture is superior to Indian culture after I came to this forum, and that superiority complex is growing day by day.
