Chinese Aircraft Carrier?

Pictures like the one above created quite a stir when they first appeared on the Internet, and blogs and forums were soon filled with stories of China secretly constructing thier first nuclear powered aircraft carrier. At first glance, this aircraft carrier looks quite real. The family resemblance to a US Navy Nimitz Class CVN is undeniable; however, upon examining the photos at the bottom of the page the viewer soon realizes that this ship, in fact, is landlocked.

So this is obviously not a real carrier. But what could it be? A non-functional prototype, the first step towards the PLN's first aircraft carrier? A stationary 'practice' carrier to train pilots? A life-sized simulation or 'proof of concept' platform?

Nope. Actually, it is just a really, really cool looking building. Namely, it is the award winning (for creative architecture) "Military Education Center" at the "Orient Green Boat After-School Camp for Youngsters."

Located about one hour west of Shanghai, the camp was constructed at the shores of Dianshan Lake. It covers 360 hectares, and had 8 major areas: Knowledge Boulevard; Bravery and Wisdom; Education on National Defense; Challenge to Survival; Scientific Exploration; Water Sports; Sports Training; and Practice in Living. The adjoining 5000-hectare campsite and village features a Global Village, with accommodation for 4,000 students in a series of hostels, cabins, and campsites themed to reflect the experience of being in 36 different countries. Sports facilities, a golf course, parasailing, windsurfing, a simulated gun range, rides in amphibious military vehicles, museum displays, video games, aircraft, replica spacecraft, ICBMs, and a park with statues of over 160 world-famous people are also included. Think of it as a cross between summer camp, a school field trip, and a communist EPCOT Center.

The "ship" itself is of traditional steel-frame building construction, and is a generic aircraft carrier about 7/8 scale to a Nimitz. Inside are military displays, exhibition halls, meeting rooms, games, and other attractions, and on the 'flight deck' there are Chinese military aircraft, such as helicopters, fighters, and attack planes.

If you ever get the chance, pay it a visit. Busses run from Shanghai and other nearby towns and cities, and admission is only 50 yuan, about $6 US.

Chinese copy of SU-33 (J-15) prototype spotted

chinese copy of Su-33 (J-15 ) Prototype spotted
BY:IDRW NEWS NETWORK / CHINESE MEDIA

A prototype of J-15 with arresting hook retracted beneath the redesigned tail cone has been spotted at Shanyang AircraftCompany . With all the attention paid to the Naval Aviation building up recently, it might not be a coincidence that the PLAN is not building any more destroyers. They just don~{!/~}t have a bottomless funding as others have suggested.

The J-15 Flying Shark is manufactured by Shenyang Aircraft Corporation. It is a carrier-based fighter aircraft, and is believed to be the Chinese upgraded version with advanced avionics and AESA radar of the Russian Sukhoi Su-33.

I can't make out anything in that picture except that it is some kind of Flanker. China won't have luck with any of their Flanker knock-offs until they fix WS-10A.

Note... please stop posting garbage that says installation of Chinese AESA... they don't have it.

just wait another half a year. Janes and Kanwa will confirm it.
You guys are using it in your current planes and need .5 year to be verified by Jane and Kanwa ?
WHY wait for half Year ?
If its true it can be verified right away.

Janes and Kanwa always are parrots who copy the old posts of CD,which are proved by the reports of J10,J10B, J11B and J15 .
For example.
In Oct, 2009, CD leaked that J15 prototype started its first test flight and CHina was not interesed to buy Russia's Su33 at all. but at that time, Kanwa and many guys here like Mr. Armand still happily and excitedly mocked how frustrated CHina was ,for Russia rejection to sell Su33 to China!!=xD

CD has leaked PLA hold a commendation meeting for Chinese scientist who finished CHina's AESA in 2008.
As usual, Jane and Kanwa will simply copy the leak and post it as "their own headline news" half a year later. hahaha.=xD

haha ,it is because somebody here only accept parrots' words.

BTW, CD has leaked that J10 with WS10 has being tested in Yanliang Aircraft Flight-testing Academe for some time.

parrots such as Jane and Kanwa surely will copy the information and post it as "their own headlines" some time later.

How many of these J-15 will be produced? J-15 (or whichever Su33 copy) is not long term solution. Does china has plans to continue carrier operations with this J-15 only? Now don't say Naval J-XX. We know nothing about it. When PRC will field its 1st carrier, it'll have odd technology planes. Su-33 copy is heavy. None of future/present carrier in world will field such heavy fighter. Most probably only PLAN.

lethal force was right, we have not done anything yet, the way is still very long to go, Chinese fellow, don't argue, just keep pushing the progress from inside, and post pictures once jobs get accomplished.

some guy on CD says that over 100 J15s are to be deployed. CD also leaked that over one dozen J15 prototypes are being tested both in Yanliang Aircraft flight-testing Academe and in Shenyang now.
