052D DDG173 Changsha spotted returning to port at Hainan Naval Base yesterday. (credits to [浩汉原创] 曾经的偶遇)

As can be noted in the images above, shes travelling under her own power and is NOT in the Indian Ocean. DDG173 apparently never left the South China Sea as noted by the same site quoted in your article. eastpendulum.com

Whilst in the mean time, the task force headed by DDG174 Hefei, sailing for drills with the Russian Navy in the Baltic passed through the North Sea a week ago, escorted by Dutch frigate HNLMS Van Amstel.:

So finally after 20-30 days Chinese were somehow able to repair it.

Okay. :daru:

How do you repair a ship at sea? She never entered the Indian Ocean. Read you own source:

http://www.eastpendulum.com/histoire-destroyer-173-changsha

According to the Up Media newspaper quoting a source from the Taiwanese army (?) , Destroyer 173 Changsha was on June 18 from China for the Baltic Sea. But for some unknown reason, the ship would never have left the South China Sea and would have turned back towards the Fiery Cross reef to return to the Zhejiang Naval Base, Vessel is affected, by sailing at a speed of "22 knots".

This speed of the ship thus seems to rule out any serious damage to the propulsion system as claimed by another Chinese source, quoted in our article of 8 July.

The same Taiwanese source assumes that this early return would be linked to the disciplinary investigations that are currently underway in the Chinese army, and that one or more Chinese destroyer or flotilla officials would be involved, forcing the Chinese navy To repatriate the whole ship and have it replaced by another of the same class.
How would you explain the task force reaching the NORTH SEA roughly a month after leaving Sanya Naval base? If the Hefei DDG174 had to replace Changsha "somewhere in the Indian Ocean" she would just be entering the Atlantic ocean now, not berthing in the Baltic.

If you have to ask that question, you shouldn't be posting on this thread.
airtel's article alleged that the ships engine and/or transmission was so damaged she was "drifting in the Indian Ocean for two weeks". An engine or gearbox damaged to a level where it cant be fixed for more than a week at sea would require a tow to port for repairs.

Zumwalt Breaks Down, Gets Tow in Panama Canal

Professional navies don't let their ships "drift" in the ocean for weeks while repairing them at sea. It's not rocket science mate.

The task force headed by DDG174 arrived at Russia's Baltiysk naval base in Kaliningrad on Friday the 21st July 2017 for Joint-Sea 2017. They departed Sanya Naval Base in the South China Sea on the 18th June 2017, making the journey from the Pacific to the Baltic Sea in 33 days.

Poor Chinese technology on which they have over confidence is in fact stolen and copied technology without adequate TOT. Their Submarines even in their coastal waters travel with a repair tender nearby, their Aircraft Carrier was billowing out smoke at Hongkong harbour which they termed it routine, although in a battle situation, it is a dead give away.

That chinese rush to build navy as big as US is the reason. It is going to be their Waterloo at Sea.

The same is true about Army and Airforce hardware which they have copied and stolen. The wheel of their tank came off during an multi country exercise in Russia just a year back. They replaced it with new tank and its chain broke down. An anti aircraft gun exploded in Indonesia killing two servicemen, and 95 locomotives purchased by Pakistan five years back refused to operate except four of them. These had to be sent back. Etc. Etc.

Chinese mind set is set to compete with experienced and more technologically proficient countries with very cheap products. It is not working. Rather it is a disaster for the customer. But the price is very cheap of unauthorized copies, hence unsuspecting customer falls for it.
