China's J-31 middle-weight stealth fighter is progressing nicely in development. There is a new prototype J-31 Version 2 (see photo below), which is larger than the original J-31 Version 1.

China has said the larger heavyweight J-20 stealth fighter will not be exported. The combat radius of the J-20 is 1,243 miles (see Global Security citation below). The J-20 has a large and powerful AESA radar.

In contrast, the J-31 has a shorter combat radius of 746 miles. The AESA radar on the J-31 should be comparable in size to the F-35.

The J-31 is designed to be China's main export stealth fighter aircraft.

IHS Jane's and Popular Science: China's J-10B, J-11D, J-16, and J-20 have AESA radars

In its March 11, 2015 article, IHS Jane's states that Chinese AESA radars have been developed for the J-10B and J-20. IHS Jane's suggests that an AESA upgrade for older SAC J-11s are possible (see first citation below).

In its May 4, 2015 article, Popular Science states that Chinese AESA radars have been installed on the J-11D upgrade (that first flew on April 29, 2015) and the J-16 (see second citation below and read the captions of the first and third photographs).

The J-16 strike fighter AESA radar has 1,760 transmit/receive elements (see caption under third photograph in Popular Science citation).

This is not an AESA radar, it is an antiquated PESA.

You can believe whatever you want.

I provided numerous citations from mainstream publications (IHS Jane's, Popular Science, and Defense Aerospace) to show that China's fighter aircraft have AESA radars.

Anyone with basic knowledge of radars will know it is not AESA. AESA is made up of several hundred T/R modules that are all self contained. That antiquated radar you claim is AESA has separate transmitting antennas like radars from the 70s with the back-plate being the receiver.

now, engine is still the shortcoming of china, but radar tech seem already is the merit of china.

AESA is widely applied to j11d/j16/j10c/j20...

The need to purchase Su-35 denotes deficiencies in both areas. China clearly has no AESA radars.
Su35's value to chinese is never its poor radar.

russua electric industry base is by far smaller than china, thus its radar tech is now left behind china.

in fact, after embargoed by west, Russia has to import many eletric fundermental components from china, in order to go on their radar projects.

And,I even suspect that many china~made electric components are now used by USA arm force. after all,it is very hard to avoid using china~made ones, when china now is the global largest electric producers.

Then why buy it? You could buy the engines separately like you already spend billions buying from Russia. You can't even meet Russia in PESA technology much less deal in the area so far above your limited radar capabilities.

You're a nutjob and it's not worth my time to keep responding.

IHS Jane's, Global Security, Popular Science, and Defense Aerospace are authoritative military journals.

They all agree China's J-10B and J-20 have AESA radars.

I'll add one final citation from Air Force Magazine (see 3/13/2017 article below).

Chinese Claim J-20 Operational | Air Force Magazine

"The J-20 has an active electronically-scanned array (AESA) radar, and dielectric panels around the jet suggest provisions for a robust electronic warfare and identification friend or foe capability."

Every article saying China has AESA is sourced from some Chinese article saying China has AESA. The Russians say China not only doesn't have it, but are importing their own radars. The one attempt at trying to market a Chinese AESA turned out to be a copy and paste of Israeli Elta marketing materials. Having AESA technology is not only limited to aircraft, where are the exports of naval AESA systems on all of the exported ships? Much less none of the exported aircraft have it either. I do not gauge what China has based on what they say about it, I gauge it on what others who test it have to say. Like Turkey who opted for SAMP/T over Chinese SAMs.

Please do believe it, it is AESA Radar. But CHINESE AESA Radar just like CHINESE fake IPHONES, which look like IPHONES but run on android and with mediocre hardware. Now what sets apart IPHONE is its IOS and superb hardware...........

Similarly these CHINESE AESA radars are fake AESA radars and are for propaganda only and create a threat perception about China. Just like Fake Chinese products their military hardware is also fake and of no use in real war. These are at best used for fake military drills like they did during DOKLAM to create a threat about China's military power. Best part of these videos was many of these so weapons were missing targets.

Add to that the Chinese army men to are fake Army personnel an army of MASTURBATERS ...........:pound::pound::pound::pound::pound::pound:

This fake army threatened India but when they saw Indian GOI & Army's resistance these MASTURBATERS simply left the ground and chose not to fight to save their ASS.....:rofl::rofl:

It is so true. Chinese try to clone everything to promote a myth they are on par which the Western MIC is more than happy to promote of big bad China so they will scare everyone into buying more weapons and lining their pockets. The entire time it is Russia feeding subsystems through the back door that actually makes Chinese clones viable. China promotes some new engine or something that never makes it onto the actual production aircraft. They bought the smallest number of Su-35 Russia would sell to them because they plan to strip them down part by part and reverse engineer every inch of that plane. As usual it will not be as good, but better than what China has now.
