In 2011, China had ambitiously launched Tiangong-1, their first space station. The satellite station was scheduled for a controlled crash landing in an ocean.

According to an astronomer who spoke to News Australia, it could crash at any any moment

Its re-entry into Earth's atmosphere won't be a controlled landing, but a fiery, molten metal laden crash. Amateur satellite tracker Thomas Dorman told Space.com that he'd been following the satellite using telescopes and cameras, and had spotted a problem with the device.

He said: "If I am right, China will wait until the last minute to let the world know it has a problem with their space station."

"It could be a real bad day if pieces of this came down in a populated area, but odds are it will land in the ocean or in an unpopulated area."

China isn't saying anything - that's the scary bit

Dean Cheng, a senior research fellow at the Asian Studies Center at the Heritage Foundation, said that China's silence on the matter could means it's already in freefall: "That would seem to suggest that it's not being deorbited under control. That's the implication."

    ha ha ha chinese quality , चले तो चाँद तक नहीं तो शाम तक ....................

China is very well known for its cheap quality products. Now its space station is also made of that cheap quality materials.

No need for Aliens to invade our Earth when we have the chinese...

LOL... some Indian were always enjoying the brainwash by the western Propaganda or the ex-colonist ,pretending you are one of them (mocking or criticizing with so called Superior feeling?) without knowing what you are and where you are, which made yourself the laughing-stock in this world...

    pity indeed...

China's 1st space lab Tiangong-1 ends data service

BEIJING, March 21 (Xinhua) -- After an operational orbit of 1,630 days, China's first space lab Tiangong-1 terminated its data service, the manned space engineering office said Monday.

The functions of the space laboratory and target orbiter have been disabled after an extended service period of about two and a half years, although it remains in designed orbit, according to the office.

Tiangong-1 was launched in September 2011 with a design life of two years.

It had successfully docked with the Shenzhou-8, Shenzhou-9 and Shenzhou-10 spacecraft and undertaken a series of experiments, contributing to the nation's space program, the office said.

The lab had completed its main missions following Shenzhou-10's return to earth in June 2013.

During its extended flight, Tiangong-1 conducted experiments on space technology, space-earth remote sensing and space environment exploration, according to the office.

Tiangong-1 was invaluable to scientists understanding of the construction and management of a space station, the office said.

The aim of China's multi-billion-dollar space program is to put a permanent manned space station into service around 2022.

By around 2020, the country's first orbiting space station should be completed.

The flight orbit of the space lab, which will descend gradually in the coming months, is under continued and close monitoring, according to the office, which said the orbiter will burn up in the atmosphere eventually.

China to launch second space lab Tiangong-2 in Q3

BEIJING, Feb. 28 (Xinhua) -- China will send its second orbiting space lab Tiangong-2 into space in the third quarter of this year, which is expected to dock with a cargo ship scheduled to be launched in the first half of next year, sources from the manned space program said Sunday.

As part of the country's space lab program, China also plans to launch the Shenzhou-11 spacecraft, which will carry two astronauts on board, in the fourth quarter of this year to dock with Tiangong-2, according to the program's spokesperson.

After its first test flight in the Wenchang satellite launch center in south China's Hainan Province, the Long March-7 rocket will put the cargo ship Tianzhou-1, which literally means "heavenly vessel," into space in the first half of 2017 to dock with Tiangong-2 and conduct experiments.

China plans to launch core module of space station around 2018

BEIJING, April 21 (Xinhua) -- China will launch a core module belonging to its first space station around 2018, according to a senior engineer with China Aerospace Science and Technology Corp. on Thursday.

Two space labs will be launched later and dock with the core module, "Tianhe-1," said Wang Zhongyang, spokesperson with a key research institute attached to the corporation.

Construction on the space station is expected to finish around 2022
    , Wang said.

The space station is expected to consist of the core module, and the two attached labs, each weighing about 20 tonnes.

If the International Space Station, which has extended its service, is retired by 2024, China's new space station will be the only operational one in outer space, Wang said.

According to Wang, the next few years will see some exciting advances in the space station program. This year, China will launch the second orbiting space lab Tiangong-2 into space and Shenzhou-11 spacecraft, which will carry two astronauts and dock with Tiangong-2.

In 2017, the country's first cargo ship Tianzhou-1, which literally means "heavenly vessel," will be sent to dock with Tiangong-2 and test some of the important systems.

After the space station is in operation, the country also plans to launch a space telescope similar to the Hubble Space Telescope, which will be on a separate space unit and share orbit alongside the space station, Wang said.

China launched its first space lab, Tiangong-1, in September 2011 and conducted two dockings with the module the following two years.

The Tiangong-1, which ran for four-and-a-half years, has fulfilled its mission and ended service in March. It still remains in orbit and will descend gradually in the coming months until it burns up in the atmosphere.

Chinese has old habit of saving themselves from their failures by this sort of idiotic argument. When I was discussing on mars mission with one chinese, he attributed the failure to Russian rocket though it was the fault of china and its failure to able to maneuver the space craft in desire orbit. Their moon mission failed. Their many long march rockets have failed. They try to hide everything and if not successful, they will try to blame others.

Wait for few months and China will claim it's 2000 years old historical sovereignty over the respective orbit and crash site.:pound:

ok guys, enough of it. At least they have a space station which can fall. We don't have it, and China's failure doesn't approve our superiority.

    :biggrin2: LOL

BTW I have asked a serious question. Just recently they have demonstrated that capability (refueling in space). It looks like something seriously gone wrong.

It will have serious implication for all the countries if they can control crash, like you said on Pindi GHQ, because then it will become display of capability to be reckoned with.

sir, first thing is, you know, i know, all know, PLA has a hacking unit, i forgot it' name, its a numeric name, there they hack western companies, india, for military and corporate designs, diagram, everything. and they are very succesful in that. u also know that many chinise that went to US for studies in 90 and all, studied in things like nuke engg, aerospance, comp science etc, but there in US, even good college and companies do not share sensitive materials with chinise and paki students. I read it in a article. so, chinise read and graduate from US, then they come back as they are funded by CCP. They become 3rd grade scientist, PLA hack, but they don't know core things. so even if they make space station, what is big deal? it was bound to fail. india send mission to mars in single attempt, chinise not till now. copying is chinise DNA, painting is Paki DNA, hard work is Indian DNA. chinise trolls like martian and shipone they get paid by CCP for propaganda. u sir go to worlaffairforum, the military expert there says chinise defence equipent is junk.

secondly, india regularly sends satellites to space, ours ia batter tested. india want to be at big tables sir, after that, we will do our tests. this is time to be acknowledge as a power. bullying the chinise and stomping the pakis will come after that.

A space station is still a satellite that orbits the earth. To keep the correct altitude, these satellites have on board motors/thrusters that keep adjusting the altitude from time to time. Machines do fail, so if these motors fail, then the satellite might slowly go out of the correct orbit, and either escape gravity and fly away or get sucked by the earth's gravity.

At the end of the day, PRC has launched a space station, and we haven't. BTW, the newspaper in the opening post is from the UK. How many space stations have the UK launched?

If it falls in the ocean, then it is fine. If it looks like it is going to fall on land, it can be blown up by a missile, or fried by anti-satellite laser. I think PRC has such a laser.
