US does not have any territorial claims against India. US isn't opposing India's entry into NSG. US isn't protecting Pakistani terrorists like masood aszhar from being blacklisted. US isn't building a road through disputed territory which India claims. China is doing all of these things. You keep saying that US wants there to be a rivalry, but who is causing China to provoke this rivalry?
until india start turn india ocean into india lake like china does in SCS, then US will get involved(remember US support of Pak in 70s indo-pak war https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Task_Force_74). there is no permanent friends just interest, its true for russia/india relationship, as well as US/india relationship.

Though chunks have amasses quite a few number of knock offs for warships i seriously doubt the capability of their sailors and leadership of their officers.

When that happens we will act accordingly, but at the moment it is China that is causing a lot of annoyance for India.

Look, we are jumping the gun. The PLAN is massive, true, its numbers hugely surpass ours, yes. But the question remains, can they effectively deploy into the IOR?

Largely, the answer remains no. In any potentially hostile situation, China will keep most of its assets in the Pacific, to counter possible moves by Japan-US-Australia. They don't have enough ships and aircraft to both safeguard the SCS and move into the IOR to protect the SLOCs.

The IN, on the other hand, can easily move afield, interdict and sieze/destroy supplies headed from Africa to China on the high seas (near Madagascar and near Aden) while maintaining 24x7 vigil on the Malacca, Lombok and Sunda Straits.

The PLAN subs are a source of concern but given the fact that the USN P-8As and IN P-8Is can track them continuously from Singapore to Karachi, maybe not too big a concern.

And do not forget that we have subs that can range into the SCS too, harass Chinese shipping and warships.

We will most likely not be seeing any PLAN CBG in the Indian Ocean anytime. They just can't get here. How will they cross the Malacca? Or even Lombok and Sunda straits.
It'll be too easy to send in a Su-30MKI squadron armed with Brahmos-A... bye bye chinese flattop.

I think Chinese CBG are still a good 20 years away, before gwadar and Djibouti base matures, but we better start preparing now.

Our sub fleet is dismally small,by 2030/35 we would be needing at least 40-45 attack subs, mix of SSN and SSK.

Carriers are moving good,we don't need to fight them number to number,we have to dominate IOR and have enough projection power that rattles up Chinese.

We should not cash on USA,I don't believe they are a good ally, their policies post WW2 in Asia pacific region and middle East is complete failure.

Few more p-8 Poseidon would be a good addition.

What we need in the next 20 years is a pretty big sub fleet and destroyer+frigate+Corvettes, supported by tankers and mine sweeper.

And if possible-something like sosus system would be a really nice addition.

Maldives and Nepal going out of Indian sphere of influence is alarming.

And do we really have submarines that can disrupt sloc in SCS????

I doubt that.

Most of the Chinese numbers comes from their gun boats, missile boats and torpedo boats.

Really-is that the way they wish to become largest navy.

Brahmos missile salvo would rip them apart if they ever dare to send them to our coast
can't shoot if they are in international water, including EEZ. unless its wartime.

also the jet carry the anti-ship need to penetrate layer of defense of CVBG, not something easily achievable. in war time, CVBG gonna stay 500km+ from the coast beyond combat jet radius, so need fueler to accompany the jet. Also need jet carrier AA to counter jet from CVBG

looking at US CVBG tactics, 1st will be salvo of 1500km cruise missile to disable airfield/radar/high value target. then follow by stealth jet, then F18. by the time F18 is there most air defense on enemy coast is gone.

i dont know where you get the spec on 900km range(credible link plz), pretty much all supersonic anti-ship missile are within 500km. I dont even recall russia has anti-ship missile exceed range of 500km. Come on 2000km, not even russia/US can claim that.
