was talking after having a look at the helicopters (60+) and why there are too many (a bit too many in observation to other systems). is it a message to PRC population ... is it only for show?

under international law is there a thin red line if air force jet used to attack own people compared to a helicopter used to attack its own people (saddam hussain after end of first gulf war for a reference).

only thinking why that many helicopters and it is only a thought and nothing offensive to PRC and its people ... but why. and it is pretty smart way to send a message if there is anyone.

will jiang zemin be present at the ceremony ... ?

are both the sharifs of pakistan going to be there ...

Magnificent really. It is incredible that 56 generals were down on the ground marching. I could not locate a single PLA officer or soldier who was overweight/fat.

Excellent parade indeed. Commies love their parades, always have and always will. USSR showcased some spectacular parades. Same goes for China. The sheer effort and drills required are astonishing.


But PLA like most armies are suffering from the obesity pandemic so nothing new under the sky.

Hardly surprising, the PLA plans at least two years in advance for such extravaganzas. All generals & units selected are explicitly warned of consequences if they fail to shape up.

years back had watched a documentary on the south vs north korean conflict. the mannerisms (including marching-style) and the gear worn by the n. korean soldiers at border-posts were unique to see.
