And the population of China is?
guy, how about that of India?

India also has a 1-bilion+ population ,but 1-billion+ indians bought less autos than 80M Germans.

Last year, Chinese bought more autos than the combination of Japan+Germany+France+Italy.

Chinese bought almost 9 times autos more than Indan last year.

However, Many indians and Frenchmen repeat that " CHinese should increase consumption ...." when they even can not figure out which item CHinese should buy more....

The bubble that has become the Chinese economy is starting to burst. China is too dependant on exports and their own economy is not strong enough to maintain growth. Add to this a real estate bubble and Foreign investments that will leave in a hurry at any sign of trouble and you have the present situation. The Chinese economy has peeked.

in 2010, Chinese bought 18.0619 million autos while Indians bought 1.87 million autos .

the autos Indians bought last year were exactly 1/10 of that bought by CHinese....hahah

http://news.cntv.cn/20110113/107502.shtml
新华社新德里电 印度汽车制造商协会11日公布的数据显示,2010年印度汽车销量为187万辆,同比增加30.7%。其中,乘用车和商用车销量分别增长31.34%和45.24%。

haha, guy, can you tell me which item of "finished products" CHina houlsholds should buy more?

cars? AC? Tv sets? refrigerator? video? house?cell phones?PC?

last year Chinese households buy all above toys more than the combination of UK+France+Germany+Italy+Japan.

guy, you still can not tell us which item Chinese should buy more......
Cars, white appliances, and electronics have all been sold under heavy subsidy so the state is picking up much of the bill. That dilutes private consumption spending so units moved do not tell the whole story. As we see from withdrawing auto subsidies, sales have plummeted 33% in one month. The biggest sector Chinese need to start spending money on are services, it is what makes developed economies possible. Finished goods can go a long way in Chinese consumption if they would buy larger things like central heating & air. I have three little AC units and a floor heater in my apartment, all of which waste electricity and the walls do not hold it lacking thermal insulation along with single pane windows. That is three sectors worth $200 billion in the US, it could be worth a trillion in China.

well, finally, you figure out which item on hell "bubble" the "consumption" of developed economies such as France and USA...that is "service".

the costperformance of "service" in France is much poorer than that in CHina.
For example,
the same quality hair-cut might cost 50 euro in France, but cost only1/10(50RMB) in China...
The same quality medical-care might cast 5000 Euro in France, but cost only 1/10(5000RMB) in China too.

such "consumption of service" bubbled by exchange rate distorts the reality and makes some guys ignorant of economic quite happy, such as you. then you boast everywhere that "see, We 60M frenchmen comsumes more 1.3 billion CHinese....." how pathific....

BTW.....armand......

Most of Chinese might have amdired you of you life quality if you had shown off "I have three little AC units and a floor heater in my apartment" to Chinese 10 years ago.

but now, Most of Chinese would think you are a "red-necks" from lonely isolated villages, when you shows off "I have three little AC units and a floor heater in my apartment" everywhere.

Chinese like to saving because they not only save for their own future, but also for their children's future.

I have saved almost 10 years to buy my apartment, at that time almost 70% of my income is saved or pay the loan. Although my parents have saved some money for me to help me to buy a appartment, I refused, I wish they can use the money to have some quality time. But now they still save the money for my possible future usage.

And now after pay back all loan, I start saving for my lovely daughter. She surely will have a bright future. You see, that's Chinese's living style, at least it won't be changed for the people born before 70s and early 80s.

Perhaps the people born after later 80s and 90s will starting spend more and saving less.

You must fail to know China is taking strict measures to curb the sales of cars because of the heavy traffic jam caused by the rapid growth of private car ownership.

The drop is more caused by policy, rather than the demand of consumers.

By the way, it is interesting to know no one is doubting the credibility of the data disclosed by the State Statistics Bureau of China this time.

If you see the 50s~80s history of Japanese, south Korea or Taiwan. You will found that when they are rapid raising, there are always one or two generation people with hard working and high saving rate. Working more and enjoy less. In fact, they are the foundation of the raising.

I think China is going to do something as "Good will" for the new USA ambassador to China. He is an American born Chinese guy. More import from and reduced trade surplus with USA would be expected.

well, here is the reaons why the drop of auto sale took place in CHina :

1. Chinese new year vacation was in Feburay......the working days in Feb are in fact 1/2-1/3 less than ordinary months.

2. many CHinese cities now limit the sale of cars, in order to cure the traffic jam.

For example, In Janu,2011, Over 200K Beijingese applied for the license of cars, but availabe licences that month were only 17.6K....
that is to say,In beijing, there was only 1 luck dog who could be allowed to buy one car among 23.2 guys who wanted to buy cars that months.

http://www.auto18.com/news/html/2011-03-11/news_20110311212176.html

Thats funny considering they grew 46% last year and they are only up 3% this year. I think you will find with the withdrawal of subsidies and the rising petrol prices, sales will not be growing much.

well, finally, you figure out which item on hell "bubble" the "consumption" of developed economies such as France and USA...that is "service".
Um sure... French services remained flat for about a year before they picked up, compared to Chinese exports which plummeted 26% after the crisis. So much for relying on manufactured goods.

the costperformance of "service" in France is much poorer than that in CHina.
For example,
the same quality hair-cut might cost 50 euro in France, but cost only1/10(50RMB) in China...
The same quality medical-care might cast 5000 Euro in France, but cost only 1/10(5000RMB) in China too.
Where can I get a quality cut in China? I have yet to find one. I have scouted salons and they all lop off your hair into a bowl cut. After he finished butchering my hair, his excuse was "Westerners have different shaped heads." :pound: I paid 35 quai for this shit, it was a simple clipper around the sides and trim. I was like 'xiu yi xia'... don't lop it off! You get what you pay for in China or anywhere else. I am going to the salon in the Landmark International Hotel next time. They might know "Western heads' even if it does cost twice as much. The same cut I got in France costs €15 and the ends were blended with a nice rounding in the back. Any stylist in France would lose their license doing this kind of work.

Medical costs in France are next to nothing. A physical in France is free while it costs 480 quai in China. For a 10 day hospital stay in France will cost €160. In China it will cost over 10000 quai. It will cost more like 70000 if you go to private wings of the hospital where you can get Western quality care.

such "consumption of service" bubbled by exchange rate distorts the reality and makes some guys ignorant of economic quite happy, such as you. then you boast everywhere that "see, We 60M frenchmen comsumes more 1.3 billion CHinese....." how pathific....
What is pathetic is that you Chinese think your products and services are the same quality... they are not. If you do get the same quality, you pay the same price or more. It costs Western money to live a Western lifestyle in China. It was true the day I heard that and it is true months later.

BTW.....armand......

Really? My Chinese friends think I am rich with my three 'fancy' AC thermostatic remote controlled units and floor heater. Most don't have a heater and only one manual AC unit. So those rednecks from PanYu and Tianhe must not know the good life? :pound:

so where is all those story of excellent infrastructure of even lower tier city of China? I never expected China to discourage sale of cars becuase they donot have good quality of roads. Beijing being one of best city in terms of infrastructures and facilities should not have this kind of limitations.

Well, China still has more room to expand private consumption and this is what China is doing now by urbanizing the village people.
