A senior apparatchik of the Chinese Communist Party on Wednesday said that Beijing did not have a policy to oppose India’s candidature for a permanent seat in the United Nations Security Council, even as he stopped short of supporting New Delhi’s bid for the same.

“We believe UN Security Council should undergo reforms. There should be more representation from developing countries. We welcome more positive and active role from India in the UN,” said Huang Huaguang, who heads the research wing of the International Department of the Chinese Communist Party. “China doesn’t have a policy to oppose India’s bid for a permanent seat in the UNSC.”

Huang is one of the five senior CPC officials currently touring New Delhi to interact with Indian international and strategic affairs experts about external and internal implications of the change of leadership in China. Speaking at the Observer Research Foundation, he said that China favoured a more democratic world order as it was of the view that the existing order could not deal with the contemporary challenges before the international community.

China certainly will not support India's bid to UNSC permanent bid, infact none of the 5 powers would like another country to share their veto power.

People think Not-opposing == Supporting  ; Diplomatic language is full of equivocal terms and languages. Not-accepting is not Denying and so also Not-Denying is not accepting,it lies between accepting and denying. The position can change at will and call of the situation. :D Chinese think that they can fool the world for long time..

Not opposing but not supporting either. We have had these noises coming out from China regularly. The day actual voting day comes, they will cast against us.

We should stop trying to get into the p5. Economic and Military power matters more than being in some exclusive club.

I think none of the current members really want India in the UNSC, since India has a more neutral policy. I mean if we would have the same opinion on international affairs like Russia and China, they wouldnt be opposed that India becomes a permanent member. But no one would declare this openly of course

Such a foolish policy we have to go begging for membership into a big-dick club.
We should focus on increasing our military and strategic might.

Without being a membership of the big-dick club, you must have to put much more effort to increase your military and strategic might.

On the contrary, you proved militarily, you need to prove economically. The first sign of your economic influence is how much you can throw in foreign countries.
