On Friday, the Adastra Superyacht was launched in China's Pearl River. The $15 million, 140-foot vessel floated majestically above the river, looking more like a spacecraft than an actual vehicle.

Five years ago, Hong Kong shipping industry billionaire Anto Marden commissioned Chinese boat engineer, John Shuttleworth Yacht Desgins, to craft a yacht unlike anything the world has ever seen, says Yahoo.com. Now Marden's dream has come to fruition.

The Adastra features a luxurious interior, complete with dinning area, sleeping spaces, and a full bathroom and shower. The ship can comfortably house nine guests in two guest cabins and a large master cabin. There are also crew quarters for up to six crew members. Even when there's no crew to steer the ship, the yacht can be controlled with an iPad from a range of 164ft. The Adastra is said to be used by the owners to travel between two Indonesian islands that they allegedly own.

Don't get too excited about this recent innovation in boating. Even if you can afford the $15 million yacht, there's no way you can get one. There's only of these space age vessels in the world and it's already spoken for.

You are really looser than I thought man. Super yacht's are five times the size of this puny thing with helipads and speedboats on board. This thing is freakin tiny and its nothing more than an experiment.

Tell that to the man who commissioned the yatch for $15 million and the man who wrote the piece.

They obvisouly have a lower IQ than a certain member of this forum.

Feel pity for him, who has been totally and utterly blinded by hatred and jealousy. Pathetic really.

The 15 Most Expensive Yachts In The World | Gallery | POWERWALL

Guess how much the most expensive one is ---- $4.8 Billion. Thats right moron, $4.8 BILLION. That's a super yacht.
and yet there are plently yacht call it super with less money. the design is unique could be consider super, or maybe other stuff. but don't get hang on the word super. i'm not the one calling the super, if you have issue with it i suggest you contact the designer or fox news about it. i'm sure they are dying to reply to you. the article is about this ship, its exterior design etc. and its a nice looking ship. don't be a sour grape whenever something came out of china good or bad you have the urge to pick a bone in chicken egg. ;)

Trimaran

A trimaran is a multihulled boat consisting of a main hull (vaka) and two smaller outrigger hulls (amas), attached to the main hull with lateral struts (akas). The design and names for the trimaran components are derived from the original proa constructed by native Pacific Islanders.

The first trimarans were built by indigenous Polynesians and other Pacific islanders almost 4,000 years ago, and much of the current terminology is inherited from them. Multihull sailboats (catamarans and trimarans) gained favor during the 1960s and 1970s. Modern recreational trimarans are rooted in the same homebuilt tradition as other multihulls but there are also a number of production models on the market. A number of trimarans in the 19–36-foot lengths (5.8–11 m) have been designed over the last 30 years to be accommodated on a road trailer. These include the original Farrier - Corsair folding trimarans - and original John Westell swing-wing folding trimaran (using the same folding system later adopted also on Quorning Dragonfly) and like trimarans. Many sailboat designers have also designed demountable trimarans that are able to be trailered (like the SeaCart 30 by Oceanlake Marine [1]).
The trimaran design is also becoming more widespread as a passenger ferry. In 2005 the 127-metre trimaran (417 ft) Benchijigua Express was delivered by Austal to Spanish ferry operator Fred.Olsen, S.A. for service in the Canary Islands. Capable of carrying 1,280 passengers and 340 cars, or equivalents, at speeds up to 40 knots, this boat was the longest aluminum ship in the world at the time of delivery.[2] The trimaran concept has also been considered for modern warships. The RV Triton was commissioned by British defence contractor QinetiQ in 2000. In October 2005, the United States Navy commissioned for evaluation the construction of a General Dynamics Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) trimaran designed and built by Austal.[3]
