lol. every neighbor gang up on china? the only country interest in SCS is some ASEAN country, even then they have internal dispute ammount each other. both korean and japanese won't intervane, its not there disputed terroritory and doesn't benefit them for them to involve a conflict with china over SCS. you guys make sound like if there is even a slight conflict then all power will join to gang up against china lol. europe won't even bother with SCS, korean/japan will just say solve the issues peceafully without any action to back it up. only US might actually intervane, and even then its not a military intervention, both china and US try to avoid any conflict. US certainly won't start a war with china for phillipine/vietnam benefits.

nope US won't have a military conflict with china for philippine benefit, this is not Iraq-kuwit we talk about here. but if china claim the entire SCS then US might send in its CVBG for show of force, NOT initiate a conflict, big difference there.

did US involve in Georgia conflict when russia invade it, even though Georiga is a NATO country, ally of US.

US will invovle when there are signifcant benefit to intervane, and philippine is not one of them. entire south china sea is though, US Navy rely on freedom of naviagation more than any country.

also china is not stupid to attack ASEAN 1st. it will wait, push ASEAN for them to make a mistake attack chinese survilliane ship first.

US has to respond because of it's defence pact with phillipines. Phillipines is a single country, not a 'mainland' with extended territories and expansionist mindset. Sanction hurt less US less compared to China. There will be many countries willing to replace China. Even if u assume US is not willing to import from any other country, it will be a win for US in the long run. Since u 'lived in the US for 25 years' , u should know that any possibility of sanctions on China will zoom any presidential candidate to a win in the elections. But then again, i am expecting too much from a brain-washed Chinese.
