we do need a air defence force for our inland air defence with it's own interceptors,sams and radars,uavs modelled on us air national guard or retired soviet air defence force.the logic is in the event of war the air force can go full offensive against the adversary and the air defence force are deployed to protect our on air space from intruders.this force can be formed as a new branch of military or placed under mha(it can also help in fighting the maoist).of corse this requires will and financial resources and strategic thinking which we lack at the political level.

Don't expect any major war to run into many years. The rate of production etc matters for work war style wars not "bilateral" wars that last a month or so.

so, before india decides to starts a war against China, India would have to persuade CHina that the war would last only 1 month also and CHina needn't moblie its military complex,so that India could win????

China has 8 Air-fields all Semi - civilian, They dont have space nor facility to keep multiple squadrons at play, Majority are within striking range of IAF and PJ-10..

The Air-ports have limited in and out ( Supply ) infrastructure, China can have many Jets but cannot put them at there, they have to flew from far east Military Airbases with help of Air-refuelers..

Which gives me an Image of IAF domination TAR airspace mostly..

the key is not how many squadrons of jet PLAAF can throw,but how many squardrons jet CHinese miliatary complexs can supply and make up for if necessoary.

without no plane engine technology the answer would be zero.

21 squadron will have only 50 yr old Mig 21 ,25yr old Su 27 junk. All we need good anti aircraft battery in eastern side.

According to the article, IAF has the capability to maintain a relative efficient operational level for at least 18 days.

That's impressive.

What I suggest is not to bring in industry capabilities into discussion here, as it can't be an overall war for China, isn't it?

SAMs...i think they can take care of anything and everything. atleast they can create panic and headache among chinese and pakistanis during war.

few quick shooting by sams can stablize the war zone
