The following is based on reports in Chinese media:

China’s qianzhan.com quoted a Russian military industry news website as saying that in early October, the Chinese shipyard at Changxing Island installed radar, electronic system and weapons on the aircraft carrier it is making. The ship is scheduled to be launched before 2017, according to China’s plan to produce two China-made 48,000 to 64,000-ton conventional carriers.

From 2017 to 2020, China will build two nuclear aircraft carriers of 93,000-ton grade for protection of its trade lifelines on the ocean.

According to the report, the electromagnetic catapult on China’s nuclear aircraft carrier will be more than 100 metres long. It will use a straight linear induction motor supported by complicated power supply and command systems. Its vital part is a highly efficient energy storage devise able to store 120MJ energy needed in ejecting an aircraft within 45 seconds.

The device on the carrier can store a maximum of 140 MJ. Its power supply needs 3.1 MW for charging the device; therefore, it must have power not exceeding 4 MW. The carrier needs 60 MW of electricity for its engines, four catapults and other systems.

China has to vigorously develop its navy in order to protect its trade lifelines far away from its coast. Development of the navy now costs about one third of China’s military budget, but there will be further increases through cutting the funds for its shrinking army.

The Russian media believes that in order to protect China’s trade lifelines, especially the supply of oil from the Middle East, China has begun to infiltrate the Indian Ocean. Not long ago the Pakistani defence minister announced Pakistan’s hope that China will set up a naval base at its Gwadar Port that China has been helping it build.

China has taken an active part in Sri Lanka’s commercial projects at Hambantota Port. Another potential base will be at Sittwe Port, Myanmar.

The Chinese navy has been intensifying its activities in the Indian Ocean. In March 2011, two Chinese warships visited Abu Dhabi.

India needs to pile up and deploy Brahmos at strategic locations. Also, Brahmos range needs to be increased asap.

Making sounds and taking defensive posture is not sufficient.

India must declare that any such Chinese move will be treated as transgression and dealt in rightful manner.

China cannot sustain such task force without a local supply chain, not all ships in a Carrier Group run on Nuclear Reactor. India must actively harass the local collaborators like Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Maldives, Djibouti through resolute naval actions.

Such deployment in IOR doesn't make any sense at a time when Japan/US/India are increasing their naval collaboration in APAC.

Brahmos range is already 750kms and ample quantity is available and more is being procured.

It's not possible to build 2 aircraft carriers in just 3-4 years, even mighty US with so much experience in building aircraft carriers take 10 years to build one. Chinese are inexperienced and still want to build aircraft carriers with emals and all goodies that US carriers have which is not possible. By 2030 maybe that too is optimistic.

India should consider building IAC-1 sister ship IAC-2 Viraat which can be built by 2025 if it's fast tracked and is started right now. So we can have 3 carriers by then and Vishal class can come after 2035-40when Vikramaditya will be due for retirement.

Its not 750.

30 character is illogical
It is already 750 kms. Original Oniks had 800kms range. To avoid MTCR Russia developed Brahmos with a baffled (a partition) tank to reduce fuel, but it was always with an eye-wink and understood that during war time this baffle (partition) can be removed and more fuel can be filled to increase the range. After signing MTCR the first announcement made was increasing the Brahmos range to 600kms. This is simple India just needs to remove the baffle and increase fuel. The rest 150kms is again under reporting the actual range as the 750 kms range is in straight line but for s manouvre and steep diving manouvre the range drops by 150kms.

weight is same

Are we sure of this?I will still wait for a test launch.

1000% sure. Even air launch Brahmos A (can be carried only 1 on modified SU30 mki) will have same range and lighter Brahmos M (can be carried 3 on any aircraft) will have 300kms range.

Oniks speed is reported as Mach 2.5 , Brahmos top speed is reported as Mach 2.9, with about 0.4 Mach different the missile will consume significantly more fuel due to the added drag ( assuming they cruise at similar altitude, being sea skimming missiles) . If they are of equal size and weight Brahmos will have shorter range if it want to take advantage of superior speed.
Missiles range will often be affected significantly by flight profile too, a high-low profile can give you significant range and speed but also give enemy much bigger warning times because of big radar horizon, a low-low profile give you short range but reduce the warning time of enemy

And not just that . We need to secure Indian ocean with anti ship missiles from Andamans to Madagascar.
We need to litter the island with anti ship weapons. And special formations designed to sank an aircraft carriers .

We need to make it enormously costly for chinese ACs to venture in our waters. The risks have to be almost prohibitive.
