China brands 30-year-old unmarried women as 'left overs`

Considered to be "left-overs" by whom? If the girls are over 30, they must be looking for husbands who are also over 30, and who will not consider them to be left-overs. What the rest of society thinks is irrelevant.

I think the later one marries, the more one gets prepared for marriage. Of course, it might become hard to find a partner after 35 though.

preferring boys over girls has nothing to do with 1 child policy.....its just some traditional thought implanted in many chinese mind.....even there were no 1 child policy many would work their asses off to get at least 1 male baby......

Why ? Says who ? You or the society ? If it is the society, based on your logic why should this matter too ? If it is you then,

You as an individual can have preferences and not the rest of the society ? Really ? Why not continue on the same lines as "If the girls are over 30, they must be looking for husbands who are also over 30", if the girls are over 35, they should look for husbands who are also over 35 ?

If Chinese men cannot all marry because there simply are not enough women, would gay men in China find it easier to escape the pressure to enter into a traditional, heterosexual relationship? If so, will China's OCP create a society more tolerant towards gay men?

u dont know how cruel life is unmarried men abv that age r also called leftovers. a silver lining - an older woman for younger man is a better match mentally n physically speaking, and more sexually appealing. women extremely sccessful in career r oftn not material for marriage - personal biased observation!

btw Women mature faster(physically and mentally) with age whereas Men are slow to mature(mentally) so that's the basic reason woman needs to be younger in case of marriage and long term relationship.
