    Mao was a wise man.

He kept all Chinese equal, except the Chinese Communist leaders.

He ensured that all Chinese got their basic necessities most of the time.

People still may not have been very happy, but they had little to grouse about.

Then, Deng brought in capitalism, even though he cloaked it with the famed Communist gobbledygooks.

It brought in prosperity, but the fat cats and bagmen of the Communist Party reaped the harvest and they became obscenely rich.

Others too dipped their hands in the till, mostly the urban educated with official connections.

Industries required labour and so the poor came in hordes from the villages and the impoverished West of the country.

The crass inequity of wealth compared to the Communist time of Mao when all were equal in their share of poverty became glaring.

The Chinese greed for money cause inhuman labour relations and the so called entrepreneurs became exploitative, totally in contrast to the equality of Mao's time.

And so what is happening and what Chen is saying is not surprising.

Like the US broke up the USSR leaving the oligarchs to run a riot, the US has ensured the same for China.

Chinese maybe clever people, but then it appears that the Americans are cleverer!

And all this stuff about Human Rights are the ideal vehicle to touch the chord of the world and even the Chinese so that there is turmoil and revolt.

This 'human rights' is a tricky interpretation.

What maybe human right in the West need not be human rights in China.

What is the difference between Chinese human rights and West's human rights?

    And which one is correct?

China, throughout in its history, has been authoritarian.

The Chinese have been conditioned to such a feeling and environment.

So, what is happening is quite natural to them.

So, why impose alien ideas on their way of life?
