Now all aspiring political leaders for the Raj Thackeray-led Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) will have to prove their mettle by passing exams with flying colours....

Candidates to write exam to get party tickets for polls: Raj Thackeray

Absolutely fantastic idea by Raj. For the first time I think he has done something sensible. Out of the box idea and a move towards getting only those capable to be lawmakers. Idea is good at grass roots level.

I clicked on the link to find out what the exam is actually about - the news says that it will be a '2 hour exam, dealing with various aspects of civic administration'. I would love to see the question paper after the first such exam...

Yes it's going to be a two hour exam and even Raj has offered to take it and get papers evaluated by independent person. It's a good idea at the grassroots. Problem is almost all corporation candidates are local strongmen. How is Raj goin to get about it?

The efficiency of it depends on what the syllabus is.

Any way good job Raj. That guy has already a popularity in Mumbai and such moves will only increase it.

It is already leaked. Some samples I can provide you (for full set youi have to pay).

    Smaple-

    1) What is your opinion about the right of north Indians living in Mumbai? What you think is the best way to throw them out of the state? 5+5

    2) Have you ever participated in communal violence in Mumbai? Share your experience. 2+8

3)Do you think Right to Equality should be abolished from Indian constitution? Give reason in support in your view. 10

I dont think the Indian constitution at present enforces the Right to Equality. So no point in discussing about something that is not even present.

    @ topic:-

Why dont you people appreciate atleast the intent, that lawmakers should be educated in basic civic virtues, no matter how the end result pans out to be ?

Few years back a Blood Donation Camp was arranged in our locality. A local Neta was praising someone named Apurba Banerjee , the organiser of the Blood Donation Camp, for his Social Service. In reality, this Apurba Banerjee was a notorious criminal (locally known as Bachchu) having a record of conducting 7 rubbeiesy in half in hour with his motor cycle gang before getting settled in our locality and building a new gang with local boys. Now Blood Donation is good thing. But, it is also important to ponder why a criminal like him is organising it (The expinditure is ofcourse coming from extortion money).

What Raj Thakrey is saying a good thing. But what I know about him and his thugs, we can say , all this is just a blank fire.

Any kind of politics in India is linked to goondaism in the low ranks. This is not limited to MNS. The Shiv Sena, BJP, Congress, SP, BSP, JD (S), etc. etc. - all of them have goondas at the grassroots level in their respective states. Nothing special or unique about MNS goondas.

Things would have been different if this was announced by the centre, SC or the election commission.

This little stunt is an obvious farce.

I think we should give a little more credit to the idea than just rubbishin away with the usual cynicism. Let us see how it goes. Erode passing judgement. We will see what kind of candidates one up as far as MNS goes.

i saw video of queues outside MNS offices on star maza....people of all eligible age are turning up in huge numbers for forms...this is really good idea and will bring common man directly into politics....soon we might see "crack MNS election candidate exam " books..

raj thakrey also said that if he does not get good candidate from one ward then he will drop that ward from election.

rather than calling it farce will you care to explain how is it farce? also explain how is it farce before even exams are taken and candidates are chosen after interviews?

    Exactly.

Atleast he has come up with the idea. Thats what matters. No matter how much 'farcical' it turns out to be. That is what refinement is for.

But people are too prejudiced for that.
