Government of India has developed an 'Online Grievance Forum' @ Grievance Redress Mechanism in Government.

The govt. wants people to use this tool to highlight the problems they faced while dealing with Government officials or departments like Passport Office, Electricity board, BSNL/MTNL, Railways etc.
Many of us say that these things don't work in India .

Couple of months back, the Faridabad Municipal Corporation laid new roads in his area and the residents were very happy about it. But 2 weeks later, BSNL dug up the newly laid roads to install new cables which annoyed all the residents. A resident used the above listed grievance forum to highlight his concern. To his surprise, BSNL and Municipal Corporation of Faridabad were served a show cause notice and the guy received a copy of the notice in one week. Government has asked the MC and BSNL about the goof up as it's clear that both the government departments were not in sync at all.

So use this grievance forum and educate others who don't know about this facility. This way we can at least raise our concerns instead of just talking about the 'System' in India .

Lack of transparency in procedures and transaction with respect to public service agencies is one principal reason why corruption in public departments is so enduring, where there is no transparency there is no effective accountability.

Any mechanism that enables transparency and accountability in the functioning of public servants and their dept's will help reduce corruption and save tax payers money

In my view, in order to improve transperancy and inclusive growth, Govering authority should try to bring in some of the non-strategic avenues like Housing, Education, Health, Transport, Utilities, Agriculture departments, Muncipalities within the ambit of open corrider, whereby entities which are handling this portfolio will be responsible for giving upto date and flawless information about their functioning. Hence People won't need to go and to ask the same through RTI. Since RTI has becoming become a major hub for Political crisis especially where vested interests of partisans are getting effected.

Government should make a rule to provide performance related information about such non-stretegic avenues, so that people will get much more information about the entities which are responsible for effecting their daily life. It will in turn enable us to impose maximum deterrance to corruption related activities, as it will become mandatory for publishing their Performance alongwith financial reports at regular intervals without even requiring public to break sweat in striding the rusty offices of Anti-corruption department.
