A much better question would be: is Modi trusted enough by his nationalist base make them accept the line of control as the actual border, and pursue an actual peace treaty with Pakistan?
I don't mind an agreement with China, to resolve our border dispute. But Pakistan - no way!!! If you give them a little leeway, it won't end there. They are on a never-ending Jihad quest. And moreover, we want Gilgit-Baltistan to be in our control at some point in future, so that we can gain pipeline access to Central Asia.

You do realize that your point of view is exactly what China wants for the next twenty years, right? China wants to solve its problem with India while India cannot solve its problem with Pakistan.

Yeah, fine with me. Solve our problems, grow economically, increase trade, bring balance of power back to the East, dilute the overwhelming Western narrative, grow the BRICS bank and establish BRICS dominance. This is possible only when BRICS cease to have border disputes.

Of course, this will necessitate that you throw Pakistan under the bus, but I'm sure your CCP wouldn't mind. Lets see what they pick in the cost-benefit analysis.

One should strive for what is possible. If an agreement can be reached with China, then it is good. The issues with Pakistan can wait.

If a dialog with Pakistan is possible with clear objectives, then it should be pursued.

Whatever India can offer in solving Taliban problem, Chinese can do more. So, no, India can't ensure the regional stability for China.
INdia has ensured stability for herself with CHina, Pak and the Talibans Probing weakness everytime. I was talking on the lines of India's foreign diplomacy in the Middle east where INdia has ensured the saftey of its people and investments.

China has economic ambitions more than politics in the region and the players know it. This is the larger leverage which China is extending to factions.

No, the reason that this region is stuck in chaos is the big game of great powers: USA, Russia, China, Iran and Saudi Arab, etc.
Getting one more player won't solve the problem.
India is the principal player cuz KAshmir is INdia's own land. Getting more players into the equation by China and Pak (USA, SA, IRAN , RUSSIA) into the region wont solve it cuz its a skirmish Pak started on Indian Soil.
By the way..your Lead..XI visited our FOREIGN MINISTER..breaking usual protocol
Breaking protocol, Chinese President Xi Jinping to meet Sushma Swaraj during her China visit
Breaking protocol, Chinese President Xi Jinping to meet Sushma Swaraj during her China visit - IBNLive
Meaning, your Top knows the stability Indian can offer to the region than fanatic IRAN and SA where dynamics change after every coup or election planned by the USA with Pak blinding China.
:D
