Can Hindus have a supreme religious authority ? If yes, how ?

We Hindus have 3,000 castes and 25,000 sub-castes which has become a reason of divide between us, each and every caste has it's own traditions and rituals, which forms the ground for discrimination, so we face these type of problems :-

    1. We don't contribute funds for the welfare of Hindus, for attracting converts to Hinduism, for creation of new temples. So our temples look ancient and poor creative a negative image.

    2. We are not united, we don't care for the Hindus who got persecuted by other religions in India itself.

    3. We lack a sense of self respect since we are religiously divided, one does not stand for the cause of other.

    4. We are politically divided so we were never in power even after enjoying a demographic majority, so even a miniscule minority can threaten us.

    5. We are divided on the caste lines.

So can we Hindus have such an authority ? is this possible ? if yes, pros and cons ?:

In Christianity Pope is considered supreme but Hindus don't have any such concept which is good but only for spiritual reasons. I know that doing so without any proper control can be a disaster but careful steps can do magic. How and what should be done ? should we make a code for it ? should Shankaracharyas be used ? should Akhadas be used ? No idea !

It's a very long topic so I can not comment much, leaving it for members, please comment, vote, add your views and suggestions.

Since you asked the question-Can Hindus have a Supreme religious authority? You are talking about feasibility, so I would say NO.

What you are probably more interested in- is political authority and not religious.

You can never have a supreme authority in any religion. I can't think of any religion which has.It just doesn't work.

The Pope is not the supreme authority in Christianity,The Protestants don't necessarily have to obey the Vaticans orders

Neither is Islam united under any one caliphate.

Centralization of power in any religious authority will serve to only further divide us, because those who disagree with the authority will simply split up and create their own sect.

    My 2 cents anyway

There is always politics. Hindus must try to distance non-Hindus from their politics i.e., eradicate or decimate all the pseudo-secular filth and then see the way Indian politics is functioning.

We have RSS which is enough.

The respect to Dharma, its practices and traditions has to come from the people.

At the same time we should be tolerant and progressive.

Perhpas a loose federation but there is no final word as far as theology in Hinduism is concerned. Decentralized by nature.

Centralized theocracy is not a always a good thing. Bauddhas had a centralized theocracy (Sangha) & relied heavily on state support, which is why Bauddhas collapsed when jihad knocked on India's doors. See how Buddhism is faring in South Korea when the state is blatantly sold out to Christian interests.

So, it is not problem of being organized but marketing. Why did the SK Buddhists let their govt. openly side with the missionaries? Or why did SK Sangha give a free pass to their govt.?

If Hindus can? they may did long ago. :p

Macca/Vaticun and Saudi Mulla/Pope like Supreme religious authority is not possible in Hinduism.

    'coz
Hinduism not a religion it is way of life.

Why you want central authority in Hinduism?
    'coz
Hindus threatened by so-called Abrahamic filth or One god/One Book/One Holy place filth.

Said again &again.Offense is the best defense.

1.Expose frauds of Fake Holy Kuran (the terror Manuel)& Bible lies.
    2.Expose fraudsters Momud&Jesus.

Attack &Attack till the Vinomous Abrahamic snakes die. :D

No, because Hindu by nature and very definition requires different views to develop, co exist and brainstorm on them independently, as those views are the various answers to question of existence. Trying to place a central authority on Hindus will lead to Islam like situation, everybody will be fighting everybody to gain central control, as everybody would think that their view is right and it should reign supreme over others. What is needed on Right Wing Nationalistic Party which understand that it needs to preserve and protect the indigenous ideas of the country be it tribal, vedic, etc. The party which which makes a tribal proud Indian tribal, Vedic proud Indian vedic etc

Ok, so majority of you think that it is not viable practically, so what can be done to unify and codify the rituals and traditions of different castes so that the casteist discrimination be avoided ?

No, Hindus can never have one supreme religious authority.

We can codify the rituals and make a compendium, but we can never make it mandatory for all Hindus to follow these rituals.

Not all rituals are mutually compatible. A member of ISKON must be a vegetarian. A priest who performs Durga Puja or Kali Puja must be a meat eater. An artist will worship Saraswati, while a smith will worship Vishwakarma. Not every deity is relevant to every Hindu.

Don't even try change Hinduism into a monolith. Hinduism is a Non-Prophet Organization.

It wasn't meant to be taken literally. My point is that Hinduism differs from Abrahamic monotheism.

The one thing that unites all Hindus is 'wait' for it: Varnasharam Dharam (((caste system)))
Untouchability is not part of it.

    Varnashram is not caste system.

A true Brahmin would be knowledgeable. One who is ignorant is a smleccha. This is not directed against anyone.
