Buddha remembers Hindus when out of power, well done... not.

    Buddha questions imam allowance

Former West Bengal chief minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee on Sunday questioned the Trinamool Congress government’s decision to grant an allowance to imams, saying it would give the BJP an opportunity to reap political mileage in the state.

Addressing a CPM rally in Dum Dum, Bhattacharjee said: “Imams have been doing this jobs for ages. Why do we have to allocate money for them? Lakhs of Muslims are not getting jobs. I arranged for reservation for Muslim youths, but now that has been stopped. Now the BJP is saying that if you allot money for imams, why don’t you allocate money for Hindu priests in temples? It is bound to raise a communal bogey in the state and BJP will make the most of the communal divide.”

The BJP reacted sharply to Bhattacharjee’s comments. Rahul Sinha, state president of the BJP, said: “The BJP’s growth in the state is because of the misdeeds of TMC and CPM...both indulge in appeasement of minorities....”

Bhattacharjee also criticised the government for spending a lot of money on advertisements, especially printing the CM’s pictures on government advertisements while the state is reeling under a financial crisis.

There is validity in Buddhadeb's contention

All clergy of all religion will want their share of the pie.

Too much of populism and less of constructive work in the country.

Education, and that too aimed at skills for professional enhancement, is the sole empowerment of the masses.

How can he ask why no allowance to temple priests? Imam are muslims and as our respected economist PM said they have the first right to the countrys resources.

He is sure communal and an RSS/VHP?Bajrang Dal agent.

Buddha didnt go for any populist strategy but did best thing for the Muslims- Madrasah Service Commission and Aliah University to raise the standard of Muslim Education. But current CM has more intimacy with communal guys like Bukhari who were not in good terms with Buddha gvt.

That reminds me of a story in the Bible - Esau sold his birthright to Jacob for a mess of pottage.

Politicians go after short term gains in votebank politics. Rather than "enlightening" the masses, they just get adrift.

An important step to modernise Madrasah education. The commission conducts the recruitment of teachers and other employees through a competitive exam like school service commission. Before that there was nothing to ensure the quality of the teachers. The curriculam in the madrashas also made similar to other schools with emphasis in science subjects.

However i dont know how much budhdha earned after doing all these. Pro-Mamata Muslim leaders were agitating to bar non-Muslims from the service commission exam. At least one case I know where present industrial minister of TMC gvt was present in one such meeting.

"Madrasah Service Commission" was the first step to channelise education of the Muslim madrassas into productive mainstream subjects so that Muslims could face the reality of the workplace.

Maybe because he is a Communist, he goes by the Chinese proverb:

Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.

Ms Bannerjee is more on the populist measures to win over the Muslims, though a Muslim cleric leader has said that she has nothing nothing.

Politics of doling out favours started by Congress means make promises of reservation and other sops in the election year and then do nothing for next 4 years. Teach a man to fish takes effort and time while throw a man an occassional fish is so much easier.
