India has foiled an attempt by a British pharmaceutical company to claim a patent on using ginger for the treatment of cold.

I think necessary amendments need to be done in Patent laws all over the world that anything derived from plants/animal to be used for health purposes should be not patentable.

How do they such cheap IDEAS ? Making money by getting patents for GINGER ? GINGER has been used for cold in INDIA from centuries and now the BLOODY BRITISH try to have patent and restrict the use of GINGER. Tomorrow they have a patent for dead bodies also. Such is the hunger of the MOST CIVILIZED PEOPLE on earth(who think they are the only people who are civilized).

Members might remember the western cos have tried to patent turmeric and also tulsi leaves IIRC.

I am thinking of patenting idli dosa sambhar :rofl:
