Congrats !!
In 2015 Indian army(3/4 Gorkha Rifles) won silver medalWhich countries were the participants this time ?
Yeah, it's not really a Gold medal, it's like a pass grade which any competent infantry unit should be able to obtain. They give you a report card which teams can use for strength and weakness analysis. But shh don't tell that to the PakisOkay so understand that Multiple Teams win Gold. The Medal System is for completing tasks against time. Each Round of the Course has its own Gold Medals.
The Pakis have also consistently won over the years. Just as an FYI.
^^ Actually wouldnt go that far. The Gold Medal (Task and Time) is actually extremely hard. i.e a Report Card of elite Infantry tactics. You get grades for Silver and Bronze as well.
Secondly the Cambrian Patrol is a bloody hard course. India repeatedly winning Gold/Silver is just a reflection of the quality of our troops on AVERAGE.
Ps. In the past the Pakis have sent SSG for this competition. Only lately have they sent regular infantry.
http://militarycompetition.blogspot.com/2013/04/exercise-cambrian-patrol-2013.htmlThe exercise is designed to be within the capability of any well-led and well-trained patrol from any Arm or Service and it also draws participants from overseas
The above would be the requirement of a well lead and well trained patrol but definitely. You will be suprised how much of a rarity it is in the world.5. Cambrian Patrol is a Mission and Task Orientated exercise. The fundamental criteria used to assess the performance of the patrol is by determining whether or not it completes the various tasks and achieves its Mission. This is assessed by awarding marks for:
a.Military skills (approx 70% of total marks).
b.Orders (approx 15% of total marks).
c.Debrief (approx 15% of total marks).
6. The other Military skills that may be assessed during Cambrian Patrol are:
a.Dismounted Close Combat Skills.
b.Obstacle crossing drills.
c.First aid and CASEVAC procedures.
d.Recognition of aircraft, vehicles and equipment.
e.C-IED/Minefield Clearance drills.
f.Patrol Techniques.
g.Prisoner of War (PW) Handling.
h.Helicopter drills.
i.Media handling.
k. Radio communications skills.
l. Artillery Target Indication Procedures.
7. Additional skills to be assessed may be notified in the future. Units may find References A, B and C useful. Reference B can be supplied to units on request by CP Office, HQ 160 (Wales) Bde.
