C-130J "chopper".. Our mediaIAF chopper crashes along banks of Chambal river in Karauli, 4 dead- News18
An IAF C-130J super hercules aircraft on Friday crashed along the banks of Chambal river in Karauli district that falls on Madhya Pradesh-Rajasthan border, confirmed Sheopur collector. A court of inquiry has been ordered into the incident.
The DIG, Chambal range has confirmed that 4 people have died in the crash, there were 11 people on board.
The aircraft had taken off from Agra earlier on Friday and was on a routine flying training mission before it crashed 72 miles west of Gwalior airbase, IAF said in a statement.
The villagers are believed to have informed the police about the incident."The chopper crashed as soon as it landed," an eyewitness told ETV.
The Collector and SP have already left for the spot. Rescue operation teams have also been rushed to the spot.
Usually, C-130J choppers are operated by 15 countries including the air forces of the US, the UK, Australia, Canada, Denmark and Italy. IAF had landed the C130J at the world's highest airstrip in north-eastern Ladakh on August 20, 2013.
