IAF chopper crashes along banks of Chambal river in Karauli, 4 dead- News18

An IAF C-130J super hercules aircraft on Friday crashed along the banks of Chambal river in Karauli district that falls on Madhya Pradesh-Rajasthan border, confirmed Sheopur collector. A court of inquiry has been ordered into the incident.

The DIG, Chambal range has confirmed that 4 people have died in the crash, there were 11 people on board.

The aircraft had taken off from Agra earlier on Friday and was on a routine flying training mission before it crashed 72 miles west of Gwalior airbase, IAF said in a statement.

The villagers are believed to have informed the police about the incident."The chopper crashed as soon as it landed," an eyewitness told ETV.

The Collector and SP have already left for the spot. Rescue operation teams have also been rushed to the spot.

Usually, C-130J choppers are operated by 15 countries including the air forces of the US, the UK, Australia, Canada, Denmark and Italy. IAF had landed the C130J at the world's highest airstrip in north-eastern Ladakh on August 20, 2013.

This should bust the theory that substandard aircraft is the cause of crash. When brand new non-Roosi aircraft crashes, it turns the suspicion to the quality of personnel.

Gwalior: The Indian Air Force's new C-130 J aircraft, has crashed near Gawlior in Madhya Pradesh after taking off from Agra. All five air force personnel on board were killed.

The military transport plane, India's biggest, is also known as Super Hercules. It crashed 72 kms or 115 miles west of Gwalior.

The plane was on a routine flying training mission, said an air force spokesperson to news agency Press Trust of India.

India had recently inducted six C-130J Super Hercules aircraft, which were bought from the US at the cost of around Rs. 6000 crore (USD 1.1 billion) four years ago.

In August last year, in a strong message to China, the Indian Air Force today landed its C-130J Super Hercules transport plane at the world's highest airstrip Daulat Beg Oldie (DBO) in Ladakh near the Line of Actual Control, the scene of a stand-off with Chinese troops in April 2013.

The landing signals that the armed forces can use the heavy-lift aircraft to deliver troops, supplies, and equipment to the border with China.

I bet my company robots (sorting all pathology samples of my state everyday) have more strict protocols; being followed religiously; for maintenance, operations, troubleshooting, all checks & balances and safety nets installed, than these yahoos of IAF who have become laughing stock and a poor reference for any air force not to follow.

Russians have been crying for aeon against IAF's shoddy maintenance practices.

Frugal practices makes you friable.

One wouldn't have worried if we were making and crashing our own machines, but being fully dependent, even for maintenance and with zero overhaul facilities for the same the machines, our miseries have increased exponentially.

RIP to dead who might have not done their duty they way it should have been.

Even if it is sabotage by enemies of the state, which I think can be the case going by what has been happing with our important war fighting assets; the failure still falls on our side.

During World war II the such sabotages were common practises by both sides. During operation Parkaram our troop and equipment movements towards IB were interrupted many a times successfully by Pakistan. It seems only India has been on the receiving end these days.

My blood is literally boiling over this shameful incident.How the heck did the I.A.F. manage to crash a brand new C-130J Super Hercules which was purchased just a couple of years back.This plane has got an impeccable record in flight safety.Indian AirForce seriously needs to look up to its pilot training.Our pilots have managed to crash THE safest plane in the recent history of military aviation.We already have the dubious world record of crashing more than 1000 combat aircrafts in peace time.We should seriously need to upgrade our pilot training programmes.Man this really sucks!!!

What the hell is wrong with you people. Nobody blames the pilots when a russian aircraft crashes? Just because its american doesn't mean it cant crash. And even if it the was pilots fault mistakes do happen and you forget that the pilots life is more important than any darn plane. There have been many c 130j crashes earlier too which someone has posted about.IAF is respected world over for being a professional airforce. Do you think untrained crews can take up the task of taking a huge aircraft to one of the highest airfields in the world? There is a clear cut statement saying flames were spotted before the aircraft crashed . So lets wait for the results to come out.
