Ejaz,

Though it is true that this will have a great impact on Norway, while it maybe too fluid now to predict on how it may. Will it make them clamp down on right wingers and thoughts completely? or will it understand that there is a growing anger in the local population, and left wing liberal pandering may have run its course, its time to be centrist. But to claim, this is equal to 9/11 or 26/11 based on per capita population is plain silly. I dont think it is a intelligent line of argument. Governments nor will policy makers look at it that way.

Many countries in Europe run on immigrants but the natives are starting to dislike the immigrants. Many countries thought that immigrants will arrive do all the dirt work and assimilate 100% into their way of life. The exact opposite has happened there are places where immigrants arrived 3 generations ago and they still have not been able to assimilate(France,England) .The dilemma now has become how can the work get done without immigrants along with a negative population growth?? Now with the economic crisis hitting Europe immigrants are looked upon as a drain on the limited resources that the native's believe rightfully belongs to them. This same pattern was repeated before in before in Europe in Germany during the Holocaust.

The violence in Norway, one of the most socially at peace countries in the world,is a ringing vindication of the German Chancellors recent statement that multiculturalism as a socio-political experiment has utterly failed, this is true not just for Germany, but for the rest of western Europe. That multiculturalism was an unviable social and political construct, which was expounded by Europe's Neo socialist in tandem with capitalist elites,as a panacea for Europe's labor shortage,is clearly evident from this atrocity, something that was unthinkable just a few years ago,in the Scandinavian country's closely knit society.

Norway's Labour party, one of the torch bearers of European liberal socialism, has conceded a lot of political ground to the conservative right. If the allegations that the attacker had extreme right leanings is true,it represents a dangerous divide, that is ever expanding among Norwegian,on how Norway should respond to issues like immigration and its impact on national identity.

The differences on issues concerning social-communal identity, cannot be treated in the same way like the difference over budgetary cut on social service expenditure. As painfully evidenced by the attack, there is not scope to 'agree to disagree'.The question before the European policy makers is that, does the economic dividend reaped on account of liberal migration policies, outweigh the genuine concerns of threat,by encouraging multiculturalism, to the social cohesiveness and identity of host societies.

The 'Pakistanisation of Europe' — A terrorist explains
This article talks of a 1,600-page manifesto titled '2083: A European Declaration of Independence', written by Anders Behring Breivik, showed a picture of the future of Europe, citing poor human rights in Pakistan as the fate of the continent.
In his doomsday scenario for Europe, Breivik predicted that several 'mini-Pakistans' would be created all over Europe by 2083, one in each country due to 'Lebanon-style' conflicts, the Express Tribune reports.
"It could be similar to the division of India after World War II, with the creation of one or several Islamic 'Pakistan' enclaves," he said.
Breivik also claimed that Pakistan is systematically annihilating all non-Muslim communities. He claimed that Hindu girls are being forced to convert to Islam in Sindh...

The true question is, is he just a extremist/ terrorist or a right wing Christian terrorist? Or does a terrorist is a Muslim extremist until you discover he's a Christian, then he just becomes an extremist?

This bastard is no ordinary psychopath he knew what he was doing perfectly and he even left a mass of literature for what he intends to do.He delibarately targetted the kids of Labour party because of its pro-immigration policies and welfare.Right now extreme right wing groups are forming all across Europe opposing all immigration and muslim immigrants in particular. For all such groups the literature will be good ammo to recruit for disgruntled individuals to their ranks. The long term effect of this incident will be extremely dangerous. The modern day neo-nazis will use islam as a boogeyman for rebuilding themselves. This Neo-nazism may also have subtle differences with the earlier iseology.

Immediate Short term effect.Goodbye to Turkeys aspirations to EU

Norway Suspect Ordered Held, Warns of 2 More Cells

OSLO, Norway – The man who has confessed to carrying out a bombing and shooting spree that left 93 people dead in Norway will be held in complete isolation for four weeks after a hearing in which he said his terror network had two other cells.

Anders Behring Breivik pleaded not guilty to one of the deadliest modern mass killings in peacetime, saying he wanted to save Europe and send a strong signal, not to kill as many as possible, Judge Kim Heger said after a closed court hearing.

Western media are hypocrites. They'll tag entire religions for the actions of few. They routinely label rss as hindu terrorists even though there is a difference between right wing and terrorism.

They didn't give much coverage to mumbai blasts...

Muslims, Communists were targets of his hate
Shyam Bhatia in London

The Norwegian mass murderer responsible for an estimated 100 deaths in his country had both Pakistani and British connections, it has emerged. But even more sinister is the way his so-called manifesto singled out leading left wing British politicians as legitimate targets for "punishment".

According to police sources in Oslo, Andres Behring Breivik as a teenager was best friends with a young Pakistani immigrant who hated Norway. He also interacted with teenage Pakistani gangs, even though he was beaten up by them - at one stage suffering a broken nose.

The Pakistani connection was suspended or broken off when he was 16 and decided to focus more on his school work. Soon afterwards he seems to have been befriended by an Englishman called Richard, the founder of an anti -Muslim secret society that draws its inspiration from 13th century European knights who fought the Muslims during the Crusades.

In his 1,518 manifesto, 32-year-old Breivik describes himself as the modern heir to those same medieval knights, explaining that he wants to drive out all Muslims from Europe by 2083, the 400th anniversary of the Battle of Vienna when the muslim Ottoman Turkish army was defeated by Christian soldiers.

What is even more chilling in the part terrorist manifesto and part autobiography, datelined London 2011, is the way in which leading leftist British politicians are identified as "Category A and B traitors (62,216 in the UK)" who should suffer the death penalty for allowing Islam to spread in Europe.

Former British Foreign Secretary Jack Straw and ex-Prime Minister Tony Blair are criticised for hiding a plan to make Britain more multi-cultural by allowing in more immigrants.

Even Prince Charles comes in for criticism because he supports the Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies - funded by the Saudi royal family - which demonstrates that "our traditional elites are colluding with them against us".

It is another ex-British Prime Minister who gets the full brunt of Breivik's rage. Listing Gordon Brown's picture next to that of Hitler as one of the criminals who failed to stop the spread of Islam, Breivik adds Brown was "colluding" with Islamic terror groups by turning London into a "the global centre of Islamic banking."

Finally, his manifesto includes a plan to forcibly convert or repatriate all Muslims in Europe.

Norway killer sourced crusader badge from Varanasi

Weaver recalls the design he made, shocked at the massacre

An uncanny Indian connection has emerged in Friday's Oslo shooting incident, which left 76 persons dead. A self-confessed Muslim-hating fundamentalist Christian, the 32-year-old Norwegian Anders Behring Breivik, chose an Indian art firm to produce badges for his crusader organisation.

As details from his manifesto become known, it has come to light that the "badge of the Justiciar Knight" was sourced from far off Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh. The name of the firm is "Indian Art Company," situated in one of the narrow lanes of Varanasi, home to the ancient city's traditional weavers who are struggling to eke out a living in a rapidly changing economic environment.

"Yes, I had made two samples for somebody from Norway but that was about a year ago," Mohammad Aslam Ansari of the 'Indian Art Company' confirmed when The Hindu spoke to him on the phone on Monday.

Slightly taken aback by a newspaper calling him from New Delhi, Mr. Ansari could not connect the badges he had made to what happened in Norway. When told about the violent massacre near Oslo, his shock and surprise was evident. "I do not even recall the name of person who had contacted me through e-mail and had asked me to send a sample of the badge," he said in a mixture of Hindi and broken English while trying to give expression to his feelings in a jaw-dropping tone.

"The badge of the Justiciar Knight illustrates a white skull marked with the symbols of communism, Islam and Nazism on the forehead, impaled on the cross of the martyrs," the Breivik manifesto says.

How and when did Breivik make contact? Mr. Ansari said he had advertised through a couple of websites hoping for some international business and got an e-mail from Norway. Mr. Ansari recalled the design of the badge — a skull with a dagger passing through it ("khopdi aur khanjar"). He made two samples based on a design settled by email and sent them to Norway by courier about a year ago.

"I had hoped to get some bulk order but after sending two samples, nothing was heard and no message came from Norway," he told this correspondent. Some token amount was sent to him through Western Union as advance (Breivik's diary says he paid $150 for the two badges).

The Internet did not prove to be the bonanza Mr. Ansari had hoped for. In the past eight months, he said, his account had been hacked and his dreams of getting work through the e-world had come to naught. "I am back to square one, doing jobs on my family loom for others. Generally, we are paid Rs. 150 per metre, of which half goes to the weaver who is working on the loom. It is too meagre to meet even our daily needs," Mr. Ansari said.

A matriculate, Mr. Ansari, hailing from a family of traditional weavers, passed out from school in 1984. Since then, he said, the business has only dwindled.
