BJP Vice-President Uma Bharti was today made the campaign in-charge of Uttarakhand ahead of the coming Lok Sabha elections.

"I will ensure that BJP will emerge victorious in all the five Lok Sabha seats in the hill state and I will work with full dedication with the party workers to achieve this," Bharti said, expressing gratitude to BJP President Rajnath Singh for entrusting her with the responsibility.

The former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister is at present an MLA from Charkhari in Uttar Pradesh.

Bharti said she would be able to prove herself in Uttarakhand and also ensure that whenever Assembly polls were held in the hill state, BJP would return to power.

BJP appoints Prabhat Jha as organisation affairs chief in Delhi | NDTV.com

    Election 2014 | Press Trust of India | Updated: February 03, 2014 21:39 IST

BJP today appointed party vice-presidents Prabhat Jha and Uma Bharti as in charge of organisation affairs in Delhi and election in charge in Uttarakhand respectively.

The announcement of appointments were made by party President Rajnath Singh in Delhi.

Jha, who has recently been given a second term for the Rajya Sabha from Madhya Pradesh, will take care of BJP's Delhi unit party affairs.

Former BJP chief Nitin Gadkari is at present the election in charge of the Delhi unit of the party, where it missed the chance of government formation by a whisker after it emerged as the single largest party by securing 32 of the 70 Assembly constituencies.

The party is preparing itself for the next Assembly elections as well as for the Lok Sabha polls.

Delhi has seven Lok Sabha seats and BJP is facing the challenge of taking on the AAP, which emerged as a formidable force in the recent Assembly elections.

BJP a true democratic party: Pralhad Joshi - The Hindu

Bharatiya Janata Party State unit president Pralhad Joshi has said that his party is a true democratic organisation that can elevate even a “tea seller” to the highest political post in the country.

“Is it possible in the Congress, which promotes dynastic rule?,” he asked while addressing a public meeting at Uppinbetageri village near here on Saturday.

Mr. Joshi said only in the BJP it was possible for an ordinary member to emerge as a national leader and aspire to attain the highest political post. In the Congress, the top posts were reserved for the Nehru-Gandhi family, he said.

Congress leaders attacking the BJP’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi would in turn boomerang on their party and help strengthen BJP’s position, Mr. Joshi said.

The BJP lost the power in the State because a splinter group left the party to form the Karnataka Janata Paksha (KJP). The KJP’s merger with the BJP had enhanced the party’s prospects in the general elections. “The BJP will win the maximum number of seats this time,” he added.
