Re: BJP to invite Nawaz Sharif and other leaders for oath taking cerem
And how is Nawaz Sharif such a big deal that the news headlines only focuses on him?
We as a country need to grow up and start to see ourselves as a global player and not just limited to a country like Pakistan. Let us get out of the mindset that our diplomacy is limited to Pakistan. There are other countries in the region, and there is already enough chatter in the Chinese media that Indo-Sino economic relations are set to cozy up, a first coming from the Chinese media. Imagine the kind of blow it will serve to Pakistan if India-China grow closer to each other economically.
As I see things, India is set to take a big leap economically over the next decade or more, and if Pakistan is not interested in being a part of this process, it is entirely their fault, let us leave them alone to deal with their pains. The free lunches from the MMS' era are a thing of past, Pakistan will have to reciprocate and only then expect benefits. Let us give Pakistan and Pakistanis a break!
With this big leap, undoubtedly the economic integration will happen with the immediate neighbourhood, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Iran, Afghanistan, Bhutan, Nepal will all become a significant part of this with enough economic dependency created, which can later be used as a diplomatic tool.
With all the writings appearing on the print media, India seems headed to significant investments coming in from Japan, and China, and if we are able to tap just these two sources properly, we are definitely talking about trillions of dollars of investments.
The other, Modi's first visit over seas will be the BRICS summit in Brazil, two things come out of it. Don't expect big bang, high on headline and low on content visits, like the mush hyped state visit of MMS to the US when Obama took over, the other, there seems a definite attempt at growing stronger ties with the others minus the west, if done, this will be a complete reversal of the decade old policy where India had subordinated to the US significantly.
Expect a lot of give and take in relations where the UPA allowed freeloading literally, and much more friendlier relations where the UPA seemed hesitant.
