'BJP committed to NDA even if it gets majority seats in LS polls'
    Mangalore, jan 31, 2014, DHNS :

BJP former National President Venkaiah Naidu has said that the BJP is likely to get majority in the Lok Sabha polls. However, the BJP is committed to the NDA even if the BJP gets majority seats.

Speaking to mediapersons on Friday, he said that the Congress is in jitters and is making last efforts to woo voters by offering ‘lollypops,’ in the form of raising the annual quota of subsidised LPG cylinders to households from nine to 12. It is totally unethical on the part of the Congress to resort to this sort of gimmicks on the eve of elections. The voters in the country will not go by the gimmicks.

BJP senior leader Venkaiah Naidu has sought answers from the ruling UPA on reasons that led to rationing and then the hike in cap on domestic LPG cylinders. The BJP wanted to know how the union government is going to meet the additional Rs 5,000 crore burden that its populist move on election eve will cast on the exchequer.

He said that B S Yeddyurappa is a popular leader and his coming back to the party fold has strengthened the party. The process of identifying the BJP candidates for the Lok Sabha polls will commence from second week of February. The BJP will not enter into alliance with the SP, BSP and DMK. They were partly responsible for what is happening in the country, he added.

    Unfulfilled promises

Naidu said that the Congress had promised Women Reservation Bill 10 years ago. However, it could not see the light of the day in spite of the fact that the alliance is being led by a woman. It had promised to bring back black money stashed in foreign banks and action on corrupt leaders.

At the fag end of the tenure, the UPA government has started talking of bringing in Telangana Bill without addressing the concerns of all the regions in the State. They are adopting the opportunistic stand on the issue. The Congress’s ambitious direct cash transfer did not result in vote transfer. It lost 137 out of 153 seats where the Direct Benefit Transfer scheme is being implemented. Likewise, the Food Security Bill did not get them vote security.

Naidu said that all negative aspects are attributed to Dr Manmohan Singh while the positive aspects are attributed to Rahul Gandhi. “If Rahul Gandhi can make the government bend backwards and reverse its policy on cap on subsidised cylinders and ordinance on convicted lawmakers, then what happened to him in all these nine and half years. Why was he silent on the sufferings of the people in the form of price rise and slow economic growth,” he questioned.

The Congress tried to rake up Gujarat riots and now they are engulfed in the 1984 Sikh genocide. The Congress is scared to project Rahul Gandhi as PM candidate because of the fear of rejection.

    AAP

To a query on Aam Admi Party (AAP), Naidu said that the AAP is getting exposed day-by- day by its own folly. There is no clarity in their stand on several issues. If the CM sits on dharna, what will happen to people. AAP’s decision to enter into an alliance with the Congress has not been accepted by the people, he said.

It makes sense. What is the NDA ? BJP+ShivSena+Akali. They are not going anywhere, they have supported BJP during the last 10 years, now it makes sense to carry them. The rest are just fair weather friends.

BJP still needs DMK for the alliance. With DMK in the fold, then it can easily win 10 MP seats here in TN

Can't understand why you are saying it stupid move from BJP part.

H Raja, a senior BJP leader in Tamil Nadu, had openly declared that the PMK would always be a natural ally of the BJP. “The PMK stands for Tamil culture, tradition and heritage, which is no different from Hinduism. We also respect the importance given to family values by Dr Ramadoss,” Raja had told The Pioneer recently.

BJP likely to opt for Sadananda Gowda from Bangalore North LS segment - The Hindu

The balance is learnt to have tilted in favour of the former Chief Minister

The tussle between top BJP leaders, the former Chief Minister D.V. Sadananda Gowda and the former Deputy Chief Minister R. Ashok, over getting party ticket to contest the Lok Sabha elections from Bangalore North has ended in favour of Mr. Sadananda Gowda.

Sources in the party said that Mr. Sadananda Gowda was almost certain to get ticket from Bangalore North.

The political balance is learnt to have tilted in favour of Mr. Sadananda Gowda at a meeting of the State party’s core committee and leaders from Bangalore North Lok Sabha constituency on Monday as part of the process of selection of candidates.

“Mr. Sadananda Gowda’s chances of getting ticket from Bangalore North are bright now.

This is because his main contender, Mr. Ashok, has withdrawn himself from the contest and there are no other senior leaders in the race to upstage the former Chief Minister,” a prominent BJP leader told The Hindu.

However, the party is yet to declare him candidate for this seat as several other formalities would have to be completed.
    Concern

The competition between Mr. Sadananda Gowda and Mr. Ashok had caused concern in the party as both of them had issued media statements criticising each other.

Following this, there were suggestions that Mr. Sadananda Gowda should consider contesting from other Lok Sabha seats, including Mysore.

However, Mr. Sadananda Gowda is believed to have told the party leaders that he would not contest in any constituency other than Bangalore North.

Meanwhile, efforts to get BSR Congress, led by the former Minister B. Sriramulu, to merge with the BJP are delayed as the party’s central unit is said to be having reservations in the wake of Mr. Sriramulu’s close association with the former Minister G. Janardhan Reddy.

“The ball is in the court of central leaders,” the sources said.

PMK condition puts BJP in a fix - The Hindu

While the BJP is keen on ensuring PMK leaders’ presence on the dais when its Prime Ministerial candidate will be addressing the Chennai rally on February 8, PMK leadership wants concrete proposals before committing itself to attend the meeting.

The BJP leaders, particularly its State president Pon Radhakrishanan, are in touch with PMK leader Anbumani Ramadoss. But a deal could not be clinched, as the BJP leadership is not able to make any commitment on the number of seats it can offer to the PMK.

BJP leaders continued to hold parleys with Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam leader Vijayakant. But they are yet to finalise the deal and the delay is preventing them from making progress in talks on seat-sharing with other allies.

“We want the BJP to come out with a clear-cut proposal on seats. Otherwise, it will be difficult for us to attend the meeting in Vandalur on February 8,” a PMK source said.

So far, only MDMK leader Vaiko has formally entered into an alliance with the BJP. Talks with other parties are being held behind the scenes.

I hope they go with DMDK and not PMK, PMK seem like a spent force, their reputation is in tatters, they are known as kings of violence, and even Ramadoss lost to gabdun in is own constituency, while I dont like DMDK either, atleast they dont resort to mindless caste based violence around the state.

But the problem is even DMDK does not really have anyone else apart from Gabdun (that isnt much), I think even Panruti has quit and is unofficially campaigning for ADMK now. so both seem rather down, but I think dmdk might the better of the two.

PMK refuses to part with constituencies - The Hindu

Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) president S. Ramadoss categorically ruled out the possibility of giving up the constituencies for which his party has named candidates. “We have already started campaigning work for the elections. The constituencies have been identified and the names of the candidates have been announced. These constituencies are not negotiable. Why should we give it up?” he asked. The PMK and BJP are in talks for a seat sharing alliance in Tamil Nadu. The BJP front has Vaiko’s MDMK, and hopes to rope in Vijayakant’s Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam (DMDK).

Besides, he also warded off questions regarding whether they have finalised their alliance with BJP or they would be a part of the alliance that included DMDK for the Lok Sabha polls.

Briefing reporters on Monday he said that they will not ally with any Dravidian parties at any point of time as they wanted to bring about a change in the Tamil Nadu politics. Describing the two Dravidian parties as ‘evil forces’ that had been continuously ruining the State for the past 47 years, he said he wanted to put an end to their dominance in the political arena of Tamil Nadu.

While announcing the formation of the Social Democratic Alliance on October 21, 2013, Dr. Ramadoss announced names of candidates for Lok Sabha constituencies. They are former Union Ministers R. Velu from Arakkonam and A.K. Moorthy from Arani, Party president G.K. Mani from Krishnagiri, youth wing secretary R. Arul (Salem), Ediroli Manian (Tiruvannamalai), Vallar Govindasamy (Cuddalore) and Gopi alias Gopalakrishnan (Chidambaram), Vadivel Ravanan (Villupuram), Aghoram (Mayiladuthurai) and former MLA R.K.R. Anantharaman (Puducherry).

Final decision on BJP's alliance soon: Pon Radhakrishnan - The Hindu

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will soon take a final decision about the alliance in Tamil Nadu for the Lok Sabha polls, party’s Tamil Nadu President, Pon Radhakrishnan said on Saturday.

“Talks are already on with the Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) while talks have been concluded with the Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam MDMK,” he told reporters in Erode.

Referring to DMDK led by actor-politician Mr. Vijayakanth, he said BJP has already held talks with party functionaries about an alliance. “But still no final decision has been taken and the ball is now in the DMDK court,” he said.

He lambasted the fixing of a target of Rs. 26, 000 crore for 2014-15 for sales of Tamil Nadu State Marketing Corporation (TASMAC) in the state and stressed the importance of “total prohibition“.

On the resignation of Delhi Chief Minister, Arvind Kejriwal, the BJP leader said “the drama by AAP and the Congress has ended.”

Reacting to Telangana issue, Mr. Radhakrishnan said the Congress has taken a hasty decision which would divide the people of Andhra Pradesh into two groups and it would be a threat to the nation’s peace.

BJP will emerge victorious in the Lok Sabha elections and form a stable government with good majority, he claimed.
