BBC News - Pakistani flood victims' anger at US
As the fury of floods continue to take heavy toll of Pakistani territory, the waters continue to spread misery wherever they go. With the search and rescue operation by Armed forces in full swing, there still seems to be no stopping of social violence in the country. Complains a Pakistani victim, "Despite the heavy damage of floods, shootings and bomb blasts still continue".
Flood victims now require more than just sugar, flour and other rations; they want everything that they have lost, be it in property or personal belongings and basic infrastructure access that they lost. With in-fighting in camps still continuing, there still continues to be a large-scale anti-America sentiment among Pakistani victims especially from the northwest Khyber Pakhtunkhwa region despite the fact that United States has been till now the single largest donor of aid.
Pointing at a BBC correspondent, a Pakistani shouts, "What about your country? Why aren't you giving more?" "We're doing so much to help the United States in the war on terrorism. Now we're in crisis and we expect help," said one of the businessman donors. :special20:
Some criticised the government, saying the aid was not fairly distributed. Others blamed the West, including the US, for failing to give enough help.:special21:
