Sonia says BJP a party of 'poisonous people'

KOTA/MANDSAUR: UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi today attacked BJP saying it is a party of "poisonous people" which spreads nothing but rumours.

"BJP is spreading rumours that the drugs of Rajasthan flagship 'Free Medicine Scheme' are poison, but the fact is that the party that is spreading such rumours is the party of poisonous people," Sonia said at a rally here.

Rajasthan will go to the polls on December 1. She alleged that BJP is projecting "lies as realities" and it has nothing substantial with it but "the very greed for power".

"BJP fails to see the progress but sees only the darkness," she alleged in her 12-minute address to a gathering of about 12,000 people at Ummad stadium here.

"The Congress government in Rajasthan has worked for public welfare through several schemes in its current tenure but the party in opposition, BJP, continues to criticise for the same," said Sonia, who was clad in a blue sari.

"BJP continues to criticise but the Congress government will continue to work for the progress of the people," she said.

Sonia said UPA's flagship schemes were revolutionary in nature and questioned, "why BJP did not introduce and implement such public welfare schemes during its regime?"

Appreciating Ashok Gehlot-led Rajasthan government for successfully implementing several flagship schemes, Sonia said Congress believes in strengthening the common man.

Stressing on various schemes of the Centre, as well as of the state government, Sonia said, "No one can go to bed without food as we have given Food Security Act, and to check the corruption, our government has brought Right to Information Act."

Narendra Modi hits back at Sonia Gandhi, says no party more poisonous than Congress

Returning Sonia Gandhi's barb, Narendra Modi Sunday said no party can be more poisonous than Congress as it has thrived on what she had called the "poison of power" for almost half a century.

A day after Sonia Gandhi said BJP was a party of poisonous people, Modi, addressing an election rally here, said

Rahul Gandhi had once recalled that his mother Sonia had compared power to poison.

"Madam's Shehzada once said in Jaipur that his mother told him that power is poison. They ruled the country for almost 50 years since independence...then who has tasted poison for longer period...it is Congress...then who else can be more poisonous (than Congress)," Modi said.

He said Rahul speaks about poverty only when media is around and asked why he hasn't done anything for people living in the slum adjacent to his house.

"Shehzada talks about the poor and poverty, but only where there is media. Twice or thrice in a year, a photo shoot takes place for showing that he is concerned about poverty. "In Delhi, yesterday, people told me that Rahul's bungalow is in the constituency of the Delhi Chief Minister and adjacent to the bungalow, there is a slum area of 800 people but there are only two public toilets.

"800 people and only two toilets...a resident would have to wait for months for his turn to come. But all these things are not visible to Congress, they only see poverty where media is present. They do not care for others," Modi said. Attacking the government over rising inflation, he said the people should forget, and not forgive, Congress in the election as it had easily forgotten its promise made in the 2009 general elections of controlling prices in 100 days after coming to power.

"Before last elections, Congress had promised to control inflation in 100 days, but what happened? Prices went high and there is no control over the skyrocketing inflation. "All the three leaders -- Sonia Gandhi, Manmohan Singh and Rahul Gandhi -- visited Rajasthan, but none of them talked about inflation and did not say what their government did to control it," he said.

Addressing the meeting in a tribal-dominated region adjacent to Gujarat, Modi said the tribal community had made great contribution to the country's independent movement.

"But Congress propagates that only one family has made all the sacrifices for the nation. They have ignored the sacrifices of tribals, but the fact is that the time period

they spent in palaces is more than the time they spent in jails," he said.

The BJP leader said it was the Atal Bihari Vajpayee government which had formed a dedicated ministry for tribals and made provision in budget for their welfare, whereas Congress sees tribals as mere voters and talks about them only when elections are around.

He said his government had made a memorial of Govind Guru at Mangarh in Banswara which has now become a holy place.

"Incident like Jallianwala bagh massacre took place at Mangarh. Tribals with inspiration from Govind Guru fought against Britishers. I pay homage to them," he said. Modi also said Congress makes fun of tribals. "A stalwart intelligent Congress leader said inflation is rising because the poor, Dalits and tribals are heating two vegetables in their meal. Do you agree?" Modi asked people, saying leaders with such thinking can do no good for the poor.

"It is political insensitiveness," he said. The BJP leader said Vasundhara Raje-led previous BJP government in Rajasthan had made efforts for the development of the state and taken it out of the category of 'Bimaru' pradesh, but the situation reversed in Congress rule.

"Only BJP government can do development," Modi asserted. He also praised the Shivraj Singh Chouhan government in Madhya Pradesh for development. Leader of Opposition Gulab Chand Kataria and other local leaders were present in the meeting.

Anti-Communal bill, stupid retarded statements by various ministers about rights of resources, choking the crap out of the country through indecision and non performance, implying minorities are allying with the enemy, and also sucking the the economy dry through looting.

The congress is not just poisonous, it is a poisonous, blood sucking, constricting vile creature that we need to get rid of ASAP.

Kin of snoopgate victim derived power from Modi

AHMEDABAD: "Many many happy returns of the day to Shri Narendra Modisirji. Look forward to see you leader of India. P.M. God bless you," writes Pranlal Soni on his Facebook page on September 17. Soni, 65, is defending Modi in the allegedly illegal snooping on his daughter ordered by former Gujarat home minister Amit Shah at the behest of his 'saheb'.

Soni's posts on social media as well as his letters - first circulated by Delhi BJP and then to the National Commission for Women - clearly shows he is a Modi supporter.

Born to a jewellers' family in Bhuj, Soni, a mechanical engineer who studied in Bangalore, took the family business set up by his father to newer heights, making their outlet Hem Jewellers a market leader in the Kutch city. RSS sources say Soni was never an active member of the Sangh Parivaar or close to Modi as implied in his letters.

Sharma in his petition before the Supreme Court has alleged that he was victimized by the chief minister because of his proximity to Soni's daughter. The father's letter, where he claims it was he who had requested Modi to protect his daughter, came as a handy defence when snoop-gate broke out last week.

The story goes that during the rebuilding of Bhuj, which was devastated by a killer earthquake in 2001, Soni, also an active Rotarian, came in contact with the then district collector Pradeep Sharma. He played a key role in persuading other shop-keepers to agree to a complete demolition and rebuilding of the core area of Bhuj.

Sharma's association with Soni grew and led to him to roping in his Bangalore-based architect daughter for hill landscaping facelift project which was inaugurated by chief minister Narendra Modi in 2009. It was at the inaugural event that Sharma first introduced the woman to the chief minister.

The family's fortunes started to soar around this time. Ecolibrium Energy Pvt Ltd., a company promoted by Soni's daughter and two sons, Chintan and Harit, bagged the smart-grid pilot project in partnership with Gujarat Energy Development Agency in 2010. The company also implemented project of installing solar units on nine government building including the secretariat in Gandhinagar.

Incubated by Center for Innovation, Incubation, and Entrepreneurship (CIIE) at Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIMA) and supported by Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), under Renewable Energy Search program, the company is rolling out its first pilot project in Gandhinagar, to showcase how consumers will be able to access and manage power consumption real time. It also includes 130KV of rooftop solar installation, one of the largest in India, as part of the pilot.

The Soni family shifted to Ahmedabad and lives in a posh locality, though they went underground when the scame broke out. Sources say Soni's daughter got married in 2009 to an Ahmedabad-based entrepreneur who ran a tea lounge in the posh Navrangpura area. Things went sour, however, when Modi started suspecting that she was spying for former IPS officer Kuldip Sharma, brother of Pradeep Sharma and a sworn adversary of Modi who is presently an advisor to the Union Ministry of Home Affairs.

BJP closes ranks over Snoopgate: Party plans to brazen out 'completely frivolous' surveillance scandal

Taken aback at first, the BJP has got its act together on the snowballing Snoopgate controversy that has hit the party where it hurts most.

Confident that it has enough ammunition to use against the UPA to offset what it is now committed to describe as a "completely frivolous controversy" aimed at tarnishing the image of its prime ministerial hopeful Narendra Modi, the party has formed a phalanx to block the current bombardment, and attack later.

The allegations that BJP national general secretary Amit Shah was behind the surveillance of a young woman at the behest of Modi, a self-confessed bachelor, had sowed confusion and bewilderment in the saffron ranks.

By Wednesday, the party had found its wind, and decided to strike the Congress anew with charges of widespread corruption in UPA II.

BJP president Rajnath Singh told Mail Today that "any possibility of a probe into the alleged charges levelled by the Congress is ruled out". He said the accusations were not authentic and will fizzle away.

Downplaying the entire controversy, Singh said it will not have any impact on the prospects of BJP in the coming Assembly elections.

"We are winning in four out of five states," he said.

Putting up a united show, BJP leaders in Delhi also rallied behind their prime ministerial candidate, saying he was above scrutiny on this issue.

Senior BJP leaders like Arun Jaitley trashed the Snoopgate controversy at a Delhi election briefing on Wednesday.

The party's national general secretary and Madhya Pradesh in-charge Ananth Kumar told Mail Today: "We have more in store against the hit-and-run mudsling campaigns of the Congress... let the Parliament session begin and public will get to know more about the corruption that the Congress-led UPA has been involved in over the last nine years.''

    Digging the dirt

Hinting that the BJP has more details on the Coalgate scam, Kumar said: "Authentic scams like Bofors and CWG have details to linger on, unlike this one based on sheer hearsay. This is just a Congress ploy to distract the nation's attention from multicrore scams, but their efforts will get swept away by public anger and apathy.''

The party seems to have war-gamed the possibility of the row lingering. No worries, said a senior party insider.

"The public will get focussed more in the upcoming states polls and then to Parliament where we have more against Congress... You will see that this Winter Session will be a Waterloo for the Congress as all skeletons in the multi-crore scams will tumble out in public domain,'' he said on condition of anonymity.

The major reason for the BJP's reactive closing of ranks behind Modi is the impact of the scandal on three upcoming state Assembly elections. Though it may have had little electoral impact as claimed by BJP top brass, the snooping controversy has indeed gained momentum in the middle class.

Inside sources claimed a "a division within the BJP" on the issue.

"We are united as always and will go ahead with our elections plans without an alteration. Modi will be addressing meetings as scheduled and we will be taking our campaign to every household as decided in our poll meetings,'' Ananth Kumar said.

    Aggressive

A section of the party preferred a more aggressive defence, and letters from the girl's father found their way into the press with the intent to defuse the case. Sources confirmed to Mail Today that a section within the BJP is of the view that leaders should focus on the issue of good governance rather than getting bogged down in trading charges.

Some senior leaders privately accept that even if the repercussions are confined to cyberspace, the Congress will have achieved its objective of making the controversy a talking point.

    NCR doubts letter source
    By Press Trust of India

The National Commission for Women (NCW) on Wednesday wrote to the father of the woman at the centre of the surveillance saga, and asked him to confirm the veracity of the letter.

"There is a lot of anonymity in the letter that was reportedly written by the woman's father. It did not have any email address, telephone or mobile number. We have written back to the postal address in the letter asking the woman's father to verify if it was written by him," NCW member Nirmala Samant Prabhavalkar said.

She said the Commission has given the recipient seven days to reply.
"Several facts are missing from the letter. We have asked the woman's father to provide us with more particulars related to the case. The matter is serious as the letter was handed over to a security guard at NCW by an anonymous person last night (Tuesday)," Prabhavalkar added.
NCW has also asked the Gujarat Government to probe the incident.

This has become an election that has veered from the actual election issues to mud slinging!

    Will it affect Modi's chances?

I was seeing Big Fight last night.

Tavleen Singh, who is nowhere a BJP fan, said the election is not anyway near a Presidential type and instead a diatribe or words to that effect against Modi and Modi alone IIRC.

Congress is incapable to rid itself of the Modi fear and instead get their ball rolling!

@Ray sir, in 1982 a car crashed near IIT Delhi at night which had two drunk occupants, a man & a woman. The case was hushed up but for certain reasons Indira & Rajiv had put that woman on illegal surveiliance. Does anyone here know who the man & woman were? Did they follow any protocol.

My info is a decisive mandate for Harshvardhan. His agenda which very clearly defines his vision and addresses issue which are the real issues has changed the tide. The bullshit of 50% reduction in electricity charges, Janlokpal etc is a rhetoric which has not found takers in Delhi. AAP is just a nautanki shala for majority of Delhiites. They have nothing to offer except for so called claim of clean government and have no vision at all other than those three points. Harshvardhan has a very clean image and that has punctured the plank on which AAP was harping but unlike Khujliwala, Harshvardhan has a very good vision about Delhi backed by very soild plans.

Whatever happens the TN domain is still held by the DMK and ADMK. These people will never let outsiders take any bite of the 'Goose that lays Golden Eggs'. Am really anxious to see how things play out in this elections.

Sometime in 1998, Ahmed Patel who was the first man in her life in London and who passed her on to RG after tasting the forbidden fruit, moved closer to her and replaced The Maratha as her bed partner. This forced him to criticise her in private and the result was 2001 aircraft crash. You will be shocked to know that Mani Shanker Aiyyar and Shiela Dixit were also supposed to be on that plane but were asked to stay back by none other than the Italian waitress herself. What a coincident? Isn't it.
