riticising the West Bengal government for the stalemate over the Panchayat elections, he alleged that the Trinamool was scared of the outcome of the polls and therefore does not want the elections to take place.

Union Rural Development Minister Jairam Ramesh today said that with the coming of the Mamata Banerjee government, West Bengal has moved from one dictatorship to another.

"It is the mistake of the people that the state has moved from one dictatorship ("tanashahi") by the Left Front to another dictatorship by the Trinamool Congress," Ramesh told Congress party workers here in Siliguri subdivision of Darjeeling district.

Criticising the West Bengal government for the stalemate over the Panchayat elections, he alleged that the Trinamool was scared of the outcome of the polls and therefore does not want the elections to take place.

"They are scared of the opposition as well as the fractions within the party. So they don't want elections," he said.

The rural development minister warned that if the panchayat polls are not held then the state will stop receiving funds under the MNREGA scheme.

"If there is no elections there will be no money," Ramesh said while raising questions over the usage of Rs 4,000 crore given by the Centre to the state under the MNREGA scheme in 2012-13.

"People need to ask this to the government," he said.

Congress ruled states not doing that great either, Mr Jairam Ramesh. Most of the better performing states are ruled by NDA only.

    Purpose missing as not stated.

For long WB has been ruled by Cong dictators, then commies and now Mamta. Commie dictators have a long history of supporting Cong dictators in India.

Bahi kabhi kabhi Congi chamchas can speak the truth. It is true assessment of self by him.

Bengal has no alternative. It is either Mamata or Left. National parties like Congress or BJP are far away from achieving any significant foothold there.

This blackmail, victimization against Central Government will be there for a long time to come it seems.

    Absolutely not.
    BJP 1997-2002
    MSY 2003-2007 (BJP -90, BSP-92, SP-139)
    Maya 2007-2012 (BJP-51, SP-97, BSP-206)
    MSY 2012 (SP-224, BSP-80, BJP-47)

BJP screwed up 2004 onwards. Without rule at centre, BJP cannot hope to rule the states and vice versa.

And BSP is not exactly a goon party.
