Bangalore blast accused killed in jail

Pune: Suspected Indian Mujahideen operative Qateel Mohammed Jaffer Siddiqui, named in the German Bakery blast and the Bangalore terror attacks, was Friday found murdered inside his cell at the Yerawada Central Jail here, police said.

Siddiqui, named in several terror cases, including the Pune German Bakery blast and Bangalore terror attacks, was found strangulated inside his cell at the high-security jail.

Maharashtra Home Minister R.R. Patil was monitoring the situation. Top police and members of the Maharashtra ATS have rushed to the jail to investigate the matter.
I think he was bumped off to prevent him from revealing more people/implicating others and the plans.

or a hundred other scenarios are possible. The fact that he is undertrial is troubling, if someone bumps off Kasab people'll be happy.

^^ thank you, I don't understand why doesn't the government inject them with HIV as soon as they are arrested, then also discredit them by saying they indulged in homosexual acts with fellow inmates. :D

There is a communal angle to this murder

The accused person belonging to IM was also planning to bomb a famous Ganesh temple in Pune

Currently he was lodged in Pune's Yerwada jail

Some inmates who have murdered this IM terrorist must have come to know
about this plot to blow up the temple and hence they killed him as revenge

The killers are Hindus and hardened criminals but many Hindu hardened criminals
are devout Hindus regularly visiting temples and giving charity on festivals

AIDS injection would be better alternative for people like him including those who were released by NDA govt in kandhar hijeck.
Genius plan, except if they get out in a bail or due to lack of "sufficent" evidence, since they are only accused till now, they will rape and spread their AIDS

Nothing happens in the jail without the help of police. Its an open secret. The system is so corrupt, as long as some one has political influence, one can get away with even murder. Blame the system.

Anyway, why the fcuk was the case still draggin on? Its been four years if my googling skills are right. Time for some drastic changes in the Judiciary.

Do you mean Criminals are NOT religious

then read this Religion in the Life of the Criminal | Psychology Today
Psychology Today is not peer review academic journal but is pop-science.

In any case the murder could be due to various reasons, I'll list half a dozen for eg.

1. Plotted by establishment because they think he'll go scot free
2. Plotted by establishment because he is innocent and they'll be caught with their pants down
3. Plotted by IM sympathizer because he might break
4. Plotted by IM sympathizer as a coup de grace
5. Plotted by some nationalistic criminal scum
6. Plotted by his homosexual sex slave
etc
(*instead of establishment, I could write the names of a dozen agencies to inflate the list of reasons)

So I have no reason why you believe it was done by Ganeshji worshipping religious hindu criminal when there are multiple other regions

NEW DELHI: With suspicions swirling around the murder of Indian Mujahideen operative Qateel Siddiqui in Pune's high-security Yerwada jail on Friday, the police are exploring the possible involvement of underworld elements, particularly that of Chhota Rajan.

Rajan's possible role is under the scanner because the gangster has styled himself as "patriotic don" ever since he fell out with Dawood Ibrahim over the latter masterminding the 1993 serial blasts as a retaliation to the communal riots following the Babri demolition.

Rajan's erstwhile accomplices —Bharat Nepali, Santosh Shetty, Vijay Shetty and Ravi Pujari among others — who formed their own gangs since have also targeted the D-company which is now a full-fledged ally of Pakistan's ISI.

Interestingly, Sharad Mohol and Alok Bhalerao, the two inmates who strangled Siddiqui, told interrogators that they killed him because he had tried to blow up the temple of their deity, Ganapati, and was engaged in anti-national activities.

"This is a classic line that Rajan gang and his splinter groups use to justify their actions. Though there is no concrete evidence yet of any gang being involved in Siddiqui's killing — nor are the killers known to be affiliated to any gang — circumstances do point to a hit job," said a Mumbai Crime Branch official.

'Gangsters sport nationalist veil'

Such "nationalist" postures help elevate the status of gangs and gangsters as well as their acceptability, transforming them from criminals to a counterweight to Pakistan-backed underworld like the D-company, said a senior police officer.

For instance, in April last year, the Mumbai crime branch arrested three operatives of the Vijay Shetty gang from the Mumbai sessions court premises just before they were to take a hit at 7/11 train blasts accused Ehtesham Siddiqui. Those nabbed had also planned the escape of those accused of killing advocate Shahid Azmi, who appeared for terror suspects.

Just like the Siddiqui murder accused, the troika arrested from the Mumbai sessions court justified their plan to eliminate Ehtesham on the grounds that he was involved in "anti-national" activities.

In fact, Azmi, who has defended several 7/11 accused, was killed by shooters of Bharat Nepali on the same pretext. "The Rajan camp has always felt that through these killings they will somewhat win the favour of Indian intelligence agencies which will help them flourish," said another official who has investigated cases against Rajan and his estranged aides. Another reason for the needle to point towards Rajan gang's possible involvement in Siddiqui's killing is its wide network inside Maharashtra jails. Several of his aides such as D K Rao and slain gangster Farid Tanasha have operated freely from behind bars. They have also recruited men for the gang from among inmates and pulled off sensational murders inside the jails in the past.

A case in point is the murder of estranged Rajan aide O P Singh in 2003. Singh was lodged in Nashik jail while around 20 members of the Rajan gang were in Mumbai's Arthur Road jail. In September that year, all these 20 inmates, including D K Rao, were summarily transferred to Nashik jail without any court order or security concern. Within three days of the transfer, the gang murdered Singh. The incident led to suspension of a dozen officers from both jails.

What has strengthened the underworld angle is the suspicious turn of events leading to Siddiqui's murder. Jail sources say Siddiqui was seen freely mixing with his killers — Mohol and Bhalerao — earlier and the trio would even play chess off and on. "So if they hated him so much, they should have been hostile to him earlier," said an investigating official.

This is not new. Chota Rajan gang has also been responsible in the past for the bombing of a mall in Karachi owned by Dawood.

The most worrying thing here is that this chap was still under trial. Let's just hope he didn't take anything to his grave which the Police did not know.

All bogus.

The chap was killed so that one cannot not trace the case back to the head honcho and break the organisation!

Just like what used to happen to the Mafia people jailed in the USA!

Chotta Rajan is a RA&W asset.
He presented himself to the agencies and they gladly accepted him. It was a good ploy. In the guise of gang wars, a lot of the dirty work was done.

Actually he is more a liability than asset. It is our agency which has to work for keeping him alive or avoiding capture in foreign land. R&AW would have got better result by bribing pakistani mafias who are against Dawood.
