A thread to highlight the features and marvels of this wonder bridge...

Not only will it ease the traffic between Bandra and Worli which took about an hour down to about 10 minutes, but will also be a landmark in its own right due to its unique architectural style...

A big salute to MSRDC and the bridge builders who gave India and Mumbai their new landmark and marvel of engineering...

Another great fact is that if all the high tensile wire (each of which is the diameter of a basketball) is laid end-to-end, its length would be about 38000 kilometers which is more than enough to lap the circumference of the Earth...

There is a need for similar engineering marvel for Local trains in mumbai. Since Bandra-Worli sea link will only going to cater to selective amount of people. But people who are commuting daily from suburban has next to no utilitiy of this Sea link. This sea link is made to cater espeically to Car owners and not to general public despite all Jubliation and this is a fact.

I saw in the Megacities programme on NGC that there is a technology on Mumbai's trains that makes collisions impossible... It uses some sort of GPS system onboard which slams brakes if it detects a train on the same line within the specified radius...

The programme mentioned that with CURRENT technology frequencies can be easily increased to 90 seconds a train on all lines, but of course Mumbai is the cash rich cow that only has to be milked and the politicians don't care about us anymore... they just want to name our bridges after themselves and take credit, but when it comes to giving us even a few hundred crores, they won't (despite the fact that Mumbai gives India about 40% of its total revenues)... But, if Bihar or some other impoverished state asked for money, I'm sure even a few thousand crores would not be a problem because there's votes in it...

So, no use cribbing about it...

Yes, even I saw it on numerous occassion on NGC. That was first introduced on Kokan railway.

One of the sorrowful part of this construction is that, it takes just a minute for our politicians to name the bridge, but corrospodingly it took them 9 years to build the same.

So far in Mumbai, all the bridges were built on Drainage or through the Railway line, which bridge have you involved in any of this.
