This is a veiled attack on Sukhbir Badal's wife who is leaving no stone unturned to bring back the Majithia family prestige.

Well, the Majithia family is expected to take the helm away from the Badal family sooner or later. Sukhbir Badal has got zero charisma for being in politics and is only running on his family name. I thought the Badal's already knew and expected the Majithias to be taking over, but it's interesting to see that there is internal resistance to this shift. I especially liked the part when Badal Sr mentioned other senior Akalis and rubbed their experience in Bikram's face. This may just have emboldened the other senior Akalis to put these kids, Bikram and Sukhbir, in their place. I think this is one of the biggest slap on their faces, and it came from their own baap.

    Part of the lifestyle.

Sukhbir and his wife are getting all the limelight and appearing as go getters and so Badal Pauji is getting jittery!

@Tronic Badal Sr brought Kairon to the Akali fold too, but he is a weak personality. I agree Majithias will bulldoze everyone else.
@cloud_9 Tohra although hated by many, represented the non-elite majority Jatts.

Yet to see anyone who hates Tohra or Longowal:taunt: He was a cunning politician my dad was a big follower of Tohra and his ideas of simple living which truly represented "Raj nahi Sewa" unlike todays"Sewa nahi Mewa" ideology.

    I enjoyed the video at # 7.

So natural and with overflowing expletives so openly!

But then many would not know that these words in the Punjab are merely 'verbal crutches' when one gets angered and thoughts flow so fast that the speech cannot respond in quick time!

I actually feel bad for him for being caught like that. Gurjit Singh Rana actually charged at him cussing, and Bikram was replying to him in the same manner but he forgot that he was still standing in front of the mic while Rana was far awar from his mic and in the middle of the room!

I bet he still has nightmares after that, and this won't make him sleep any better:

Are the Majithias really that powerful in contemporary Punjab politics? To be honest, I hadn't heard of Bikram Majithia untill Harsimrat launched her NGO - Nanhi Chaan which was in fact her launch-pad to a political career.

The Majithias are quite powerful. They have a long history with the Akali Dal. Moreover, they are powerful Sardars dating back to Maharaja Ranjit Singh's empire, and in Punjab, a family history like that gives you legitimacy to rule (check Capt. Amrinder). Moreover, they are filthy rich, and if the last few elections are anything to go by, the richer you are, the higher your chances of winning. ;)

I know their history. Along with the Phulkian Misl off shoots ruling Nabha, Jind and Patiala, I guess Majithias are probably the two biggest families in Punjab. But in terms of the last decade or two, has anybody else from the clan apart from Bikram, come up big in politics? But then again, as you said, if you have the money and the kind of history they have, a political career is probably the natural choice. Looking into the future, Harsimrat-Sukhbir's progeny could possibly rule Punjab for centuries.

I was hoping against hope when Manpreet struck out on his own. But that was not to be.
