    Australian PAK-FA?

With the cancellation of the US F-22 Raptor in April 2009 the PAK-FA is now set to become the worlds best production fighter plane - and for half the price of the far inferior JSF.

Air Power Australia research indicates that unless the F-22 program is restored and upgraded, the PAK-FA would even defeat the F-22.

If Australia should look to augmenting Su-35 aircraft purchased in the short term with a small number of PAK-FA aircraft to ensure air-superiority over Australian air space. PAK-FA are likely to become available in about 2015.

Even if they are interested, PAKFA won't be available to them in 2015 or even in 2020. Perhaps in 2025-30 period. But by then they would have already bought the F-35.

We have 2 big air force orders to take care of. More than twice the F-22 orders till date.

They should buy J20's. They will be cheaper than PAKFA. Will also be enough to guard Australian airspace from whatever threat there can be (?)

HAHAHAHA! Don't go reading that link man. Aus Air Power is a hilarious website that simply addresses dreamland threats that Australia faces. Despite having ideally everything including geographic location, economy, peace and prosperity, they're getting paranoid about everyone around them for nothing. We and Russia joined the program because our relationship has been very strong for more than half a century. The political and diplomatic trust between the two countries is very, very strong. What makes you think Naik managed to get a $ 30 billion investment into a stealth project?

It is unlikely that Russians will ever offer that level of cooperation to anyone else at the moment. Even for hefty amount because the last thing they want is for someone to rip off latest tech and adopt it into an already increasingly competitive rival model. As for China, Aussies are again in a predicament. On one hand, they cannot avoid getting connected with China and on the other, they have to play catchup with the NATO brigade as well.

The JSF is MORE THAN ENOUGH for what Australia has in the name of viable threats. Why would anyone attack them and invite the headache called NATO to their home base? Chinese are expansionist but they don't want a war in which both their customer and enemy will get destroyed hence destroying themselves as well. Indonesia, Malaysia, Fiji and New Zealand are peaceful countries. We have an "AMAZING" leadership to even attack Maldives forget Australia.

Then whom are they worried about? Needless to say they are simply getting bored remaining unnoticed around the geopolitical world for a long time. They should know how lucky they are to remain peacefully on one corner of the world and enjoy all the good facilities of life without any conflict.

J-20 is perfect for Australia, they can adjust it with the next trade deficit. Cheap Coal for cheap Chinese jet fighters, sounds even to me.
