you might have heard the name "Audrey truschke" when she, in her (in)famous interview on 'the hindu' said that 'Aurangzeb is a severely misunderstood figure'. Recently going through twitter, somethings grabbed my attention. https://twitter.com/AudreyTruschke https://twitter.com/RichardFoxYoung They are of the opinion that Indians are waging a "war" on american scholars studying Indian history. https://www.insidehighered.com/news...study-hinduism-and-india-face-hostile-climate Her reaction... and .... More interestingly..... Her views/works have found opposition in India, and rightly so, A New York times article published in 2011 estimated that during Aurangzeb's reign, around 4.6 million people were killed during his rule. http://www.nytimes.com/imagepages/2011/11/06/opinion/06atrocities_timeline.html Yet, she says... What is exactly happening here? can anyone with authoritative knowledge on the subject explain it. There seems to be works coming out from some american scholars on caste system and other historical aspects which are speaking to the opposite of what has widely been understood about in India and abroad as well.
