....But unlike other SLBM, the video shows dual smoke release emits from K-4. I have not seen anything like that before.
If you look closely, you will notice that the exhaust plumes are emanating from the nose of the missile.

The technique adopted by Indian designers is to for the missile to emerge out of the water with 'nose rockets' providing the thrust, creating an air cavity in the process - thus reducing friction with the water.

Hope ATV launch K4 on the move or at least as soon as it launch, it should move fast out of the area, gas generator and lift off left behind large sign that underneath ATV has launched it.

its double hull and it is advance
Advantages of double hull?
Means it will weigh more than any western counter parts which normally uses single hull?
Do any other country uses double hull other than russia?

Russians use double hull, we too have followed them in this department, but we have not followed the boomer class, we build our own multi purpose sub.

Newer Russian subs are also tilting towards single hulls. They will retain double hulls but the outer hull will become thinner. While at one time the development of US subs with double hulls too was being suggested.

Probably the most important use of a Double hull sub is the cost/stealth ratio. If you try to achieve quietening with a single hull then you will have to work on a lot more of the equipment isolations and deck isolations. That would change the way the subs will be made and force in more and more vendor development & testing & standardization work for the yards. Double hulls can be expected to be easier where too much of shipbuilding industry cannot be changed suddenly. And with nuke propulsion the weight penalty is not going to be an unmanageable penalty.

There could be other benefits too but there is not enough literature around other benefits so a lot will have to be left to imagination.

Indian Navy too has had its massive internal fights about which type to make. So they lost a lot of time on deciding about real work that follow these decision.

Chinese also have double hull examples. While they too may be looking at single hull subs.

INS Arihant goes Silent
Written by AnandSG

India’s first indigenous nuclear submarine, INS Arihant might have quietly gone into operational service hints latest buzz among media houses.
INS Arihant had started undergoing sea acceptance trials and will be inducted without much fanfare under presume instructions from National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval who for long wanted a blanket ban on media coverage regarding INS Arihant.
INS Arihant had already passed several deep sea diving drills and also had completed weapons trials including submerged firing of submarine-launched ballistic missiles (SLBM) like K-15 and K-4 a few months back and around International Fleet Review 2016 also had completed Torpedo firings which were reportedly assisted by visiting Russian warships which were equipped with Deep Submergence Rescue Vehicle (DSRV) for any onboard emergencies.
INS Arihant, a 6,000-tonne submarine, is country’s first indigenous nuclear submarine and can launch nuclear weapons from underwater completing India’s nuclear triad which was built under the Advanced Technology Vessel Project at the Ship Building Centre at Visakhapatnam.
