Two american young men are on a business trip to Russia , but fate has other plans for them....

For while they are in Moscow , the earth is attacked by critters from outer space .

But if you are expecting to shake hands with little green men , then forget it.....

For these space invaders are straight out of science fiction.....or maybe thats what people in outer space really are like , who knows.....

They are invisible creatures composed of lethal microwave radiation and can be detected only by electricity.....

Any attempt to shake hands with them will lead to dissolution of the person attempting the handshake into dust as microwave radiation shears him apart.....

Thats what they do---these microwave creatures kill humans by literally grinding them to dust....

And they have come to earth to eat their ' food '---its rich and varied minerals , what else.....

But before they eat their ' food ' they must take control of the planet by finishing off its original inhabitants....

As the population of the earth gets decimated by these aliens , the young men from America have to face the hard reality that the home and hearth that they wished to return to in America no longer exist.....

......And the city of Moscow where they are has all its population killed , leaving it an empty hulk.....

But it is a beautiful emptiness.....

For the director and the cameraman have pulled off a triumph in showing an entire city in all its stark beauty but devoid of its population......

The streets , the boulevards , the tall buildings , the bridges , the railways , the underground metro , indeed the Kremlin all are shown---but without a single living soul in them......

How come an entire city which should be thriving with population is shown with all its places empty of people ?? And yet the concrete jungle remains ?? One must only salute the wonders of modern technology in making the population of a mighty city disappear from the final print of the film

But by chance , or by the director taking some cinematic liberty , our American young men come upon two lovely American young women who are similarly trapped but alive in Moscow.....

And they team up with some brave desperados out to save mother Russia from the evil foreign invaders---once again !!......for nobody's forgotten the epic fight put up by the Russians when the nazis attacked Russia half a century ago.....

And help is at hand !!

An eccentric old Russian coot has discovered a microwave gun which can stun and kill the invading barbarians....

And a Russian submarine is waiting in the Moskva river that flows through Moscow....
Its waiting to take those who wanna return home to America---if anything like home still exists.....

So do our heroes manage to save themselves and their girls and reach America safely ??

But do the Russians they have teamed up with want to leave mother Russia defenceless and go away just when they have discovered a weapon to fight the hated foe ??

Go and watch the movie for the answers....

For it looks good in 3D....

    Verdict---watchable .

Darkest Hour: Saw it. Nice movie. Worth the money.

Have you seen Tintin in 3D? That is also a good movie. Very well made. Mind you, it's not exactly what was there in the books.

Most movies about aliens depict aliens as aggressors and humans as defenders. I think the trend was started by Independence Day. The notable exception to this trend is Avatar.

And I liked Tintin and it seems different from the TV show.

I went to this movie based on this review. The movie was a thorough disappointment. Now I cannot now totally believe ashdoc's review before making my movie decision :p
