It is a good sign that unlike the humoured importance given to India during the UPA regime, it appears that the world is taking notice of India because of Modi's high profile activities within and outside India. It appears that Modi has been able to present to the world that a new dynamism has come over India and it is moving out of its age old lethargic status quoism.

While it may have been diplomatically imprudent of Obama to have said what he has said, but then he was only reiterating the US view of Myanmar and that though it has done well, Myanmar has a long way to go before it can be fully a democratic nation.

It may have been taken amiss by the junta, but then it may have given hope to the public that there is still international, or at least American backing, to nudge vigorously the junta to being democracy in its truest form to Myanmar.
