Militant hideout busted; huge cache of arms, ammunition seized.
Posted on June 27, 2013 by Dailyexcelsior

SRINAGAR : Army has busted a militant hideout and recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition, including anti-tank and anti-personal mines, from Kupwara district of north Kashmir.
“Continued area domination operations by troops of the frontline division in Kupwara resulted in unearthing a huge cache of arms and ammunition yesterday,” a defence spokesman said today.

He said the recoveries included two anti tank mines, 55 anti personal mines, ten hand grenades, eight flame thrower tubes, eight RPG rounds, two 105mm artillery shells, 100 detonators, 1500 rounds of AK ammunition and 35 kgs of RDX explosive packed in 75 plastic containers.

“The cache was carefully concealed behind boulders and in the thick jungles on the upper reaches of the Shamsabari towards the Line of Control,” he said.
“This is a major recovery and thwarts the nefarious designs of the terrorists to disturb the fragile peace in the Kashmir Valley,” he said.
A senior army officer, Brigadier Ram Niwas said “the cache could have been used by the terrorists for violent activities in the region particularly with the Amarnath Yatra beginning tomorrow.” (AGENCIES)

Cache is a bit too big, even by Kashmir standards. something big could be cooking under the radar.

We are seeing an upsurge of violence in Kashmir in the past few months, including today. As it is, something major could go down towards fall.

Make IED out of it. Artillery shells make the best IEDs.

105 shell are used for setting up IED .

solar triggered missiles/ rockets are basically use sun to charge the batteries for the rockets & fires them up when they are charged ,basically its like mortar -(minus) operator

So, you have virtually no control when it fires.
Only can be used against static installation where timing is not required.
Advantage, good time available to be away from the site.
So, set-up in the dead of night and it will fire in the morning, by then tango will be miles away, ingenuous.

The main aim of terrorist is to avoid confrontation with IA as much as possible while sneaking into the Indian side ,it is mainly used as a diversion for making there escape easier ,it has a range up to 3-4 km it can be fired using remote controller or timing device

If used alongside remote control or timing device, why use solar power, battery or dry cell can be used.
Also solar power limits operation to only day time.

"solar power" means it has a battery.. it can be used any time, day or night, as long as the battery is charged.. besides, the required electrical power is probably only required for the spark mechanism..
