Theoretically speaking, how effective are these guns in battle?
Usually today they are meant for special operations, are they not? Not on a classic battlefield with infantry, armor, artillery and air support, has been my understanding. WWI saw anti-tank rifles but tanks were primitive at the time.

AFAIK, AMRs are used for point defense of forward bases against enemy light & medium armor, not for deep penetration into enemy territories. Sniper recon teams & AMR teams have very different roles.

why army needs a weapon capable of firing 20mm that too with multi cal facility as eevery one knows that succh a weapon would be too heavy and these so calledd snipers are meant for deep penetration uniits mainly and for thheir ease of use 12.7 mm weapons are suitable whichh needs just two man crew.Where as a heavy 20mm weapon needing 3 man crew means more chance to get their cower blown up.With out the surprise and mobility elements snipers just like submarines are sitting ducks.
