As part of the reforms of the Indian Army, should there by a Sergeant Major equivalent post in the organization? Fire away your thoughts!

FYI the Sergeant Major is the senior most enlisted member of the army.

No. There are quite a few Subedar Majors. Read about the US Army Sergeant Major position here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sergeant_Major_of_the_Army
The British Army also recently created a similar position: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Army_Sergeant_Major
The US Army also has a senior most enlisted advisor to their Chief of Defense Staff. The holder of this position is the most senior enlisted person across all US armed forces. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Senior_Enlisted_Advisor_to_the_Chairman
In the case of the Indian Army what complicates the case a little bit is that JCOs are actually commissioned officers.

Yes but there are many JCOs. SMA is only a single person just like COAS.
Actually not accurate. Each command has a Command Sargent Major. The more senior the command the more senior the SM
