Army officer, two cops killed in encounter in J&K's Kupwara

Kupwara: A Junior Commissioned Officer of the Indian Army and two policemen were killed in a fierce encounter between militants and security forces in Zoonarewshi area of Kupwara district near the Line of Control in Kashmir.

Two militants were also killed in the encounter.

The army and police launched a joint operation against the militants who were hiding in a village in the area.

The fierce gun-battle, which began on Monday, continued through the night and ended on Tuesday afternoon.

Security forces have launched a search in the area.

Four policemen have been injured in the encounter.
