Army jawan succumbs to injuries in Poonch

An Army jawan manning the forward Indian post along the Line of Control succumbed to his critical injuries in the wee hoursof Wednesday after he was hit by a stray bullet fired from across the LoC. According to officialsources, "The jawan posted at the Neelum post in Mankote sector ofPoonch was hit by a sniper fire from across the LoC on Tuesday evening and was rushed to the nearby military hospital in Rajouri in critical condition."
The jawan was hit by a stray bullet during the exchange of fire between the infiltrators and the jawans of the India Army, sources said. According to official sources, "A large group of infiltrators were spotted in the Balnoi sector along the LoC and theirmovements were continuouslytracked by the jawans of the Indian Army. When the group attempted to infiltrate late Tuesday night, the Indian jawans opened fire to prevent intrusion and in the exchange of gunfire one of the jawans manning the forward post was hit by a bullet leading to critical injuries."
Officiating Defence PRO in Jammu SN Acharya said that the jawan identified as Rakesh Kumar of 37 RashtriyaRifles was critically injured during exchange of fire and later succumbed to his injuries around 3 am in Rajouri military hospital. According to defence spokesman, the martyred soldier hailed from Bilaspur in Himanchal Pradesh and is survived by his wife and daughter.

So which was it, a stray bullet or sniper fire? Article makes it sound like an accident. Absurd.
