On 15 august 1947 a nation became free to live, to prosper and to decide its social, political and economic future to ensure the welfare of 330 million people. This is the day on which Republic of India born. After becoming independent from British raj India saw one of the biggest populace migration during partition and both newly developed nations got wounds which are still not fully healed. The time of Indian independence was a post world war II time and the whole world was getting divided between communist and capitalist camps. The political leadership of India was well aware of the pros and cons of joining a camp and newly formed, hungry, poor and undeveloped India decided not to join any camp and become founding nation of NAM (non-align Movement). A lot of people criticize the NAM and say it doesn’t become successful but I am not convincing with it. NAM was a success to India because it showed the world that India had become fully Independent and would not decide its foreign and domestic policy according to a single political theory and will go on its own way. On 26 January 1950 the constitution of India was adopted, which is biggest constitution with a lot of unique features. The founding leaders of Indian political system made sure that India will become a democratic nation where people of India have the rights to choose the way of their life and government. The Preamble, Fundamental Rights, Directive principles, Implied Rights and Fundamental duties are a part of constitution to make this happen. Unfortunately this had not happened and all these marvels of our society, culture and constitution are become neglected in front of regional and communal politics used by all the political parties of India to gain vote and power. The corruption and lies become the life line of a nation where Harishchandra’s truthfulness and honesty is a self claimed definition of these 2. We had written in our constitution that we will be a secular state and religion is a private part of individual life but opposite has happened and now all the political leaders do their politics on the basis of religion and community. The welfare of People of India was forgotten and we are used on the name of RAM and RAHIM to vote as sheep. We were used to vote on the basis of caste poverty and an unfulfilled dream of development. After 64 years of Independence we are still not free, still we don’t think as an Indian. Still we have issue with language, region, and caste. I don’t say the issues are wrong but what I request is to think what we are trying to achieve a solution or a continuation of problems. Our constitution says- “WE, THE PEOPLE OF INDIA, having solemnly resolved to constitute India into a SOVEREIGN SOCIALIST SECULAR DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC and to secure to all its citizens: JUSTICE, social, economic and political; LIBERTY of thought, expression, belief, faith and worship; EQUALITY of status and of opportunity; and to promote among them all FRATERNITY assuring the dignity of the individual and the unity and integrity of the Nation; IN OUR CONSTITUENT ASSEMBLY this twenty-sixth day of November, 1949, do HEREBY ADOPT, ENACT AND GIVE TO OURSELVES THIS CONSTITUTION.†Are we a society which has justice, liberty, equality and fraternity? No we are not and we are trying to be this since 1947. We have achieved a lot of success in removing untouchability from our society but have somebody tried to make us proud on this. Is some politician came forward and said “Hail India, you done a fantastic job, keep it upâ€, not a single one We fought to injustice so much and got defeated so many time that now a lot of people become indifferent to it. Is there any leader who said sorry for this failure and insured us with his work that the situation will change? Sometimes I wonder why is this that a European leader can travel with his fellow citizen without security and protocols and not our leaders. Then I question are we truly politically independent and are we start behaving as Indian, are we are awake to defend our Independence. If we are still divided on the name of caste, religion, ethnicity then we don’t have a right to cry on the unfairness which we face because the law of nature tells only powerful or united people can grow and enjoy the giving.
