Disgraced nuclear scientist and father of Pakistan's nuclear bomb, Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan has said he has decided to join hands with Jamaat-e-Islami for making the country a truly Islamic welfare state and to free it from the clutches of corrupt people.

Addressing a reception hosted in his honour by Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami, Pakistan, Syed Munawar Hasan, at Mansoora, Khan and head of Tehrik-e-Tahafuz-e-Pakistan, said that if the nation wanted to get rid of poverty, loot and plunder, unemployment and lawlessness, it should vote for patriotic, honest and competent people in the next elections.

According to the News, Khan was given a grand welcome on his arrival at Mansoora, by JI workers and students of Mansoora Model School and Syed Maudoodi Institute.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr AQ Khan said that in order to safeguard the country's integrity and solidarity, it was necessary to save it from external threats, and corruption and lawlessness at home.

Dr Khan said that when India detonated the nuclear bomb about 30 years back, he returned home from Europe and made up his mind not to have respite unless he made the nuclear bomb for his country.

He added that he was happy that he had not disappointed the nation.

He said that hundreds of JI men had been in the assemblies and also in the government, but there were no charges of corruption, misuse of power against any of them.

Therefore, he said, he had decided to join hands with the JI in order to steer the country out of crisis.

Dr AQ Khan was accompanied by Admiral Javed Iqbal and other leaders of Tehrik-e-Tahafuz-e- Pakistan, the report said.

Besides Nawaz Sharif , PML-N's Sardar Mehtab Abbasi, Senator Tariq Azim, Ahsan Iqbal and Captain Safdar were also present, it added.
