The level of manipulation the UPA govt. did. I wonder where did those revealation lead to. Shouldn't CBI, as an organisation be dismantled? I am yet to find a single evidence where CBI was effective and actually resulted in giving justice to the crimes.

UPA tried every single trick to frame Amit Shah. I think those arguments got debunked when CBI couldn't provide any hard evidence to the court.

Extortion complaints against Amit Shah appear to be absolute trash: Supreme Court

NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court on Thursday countered the constant attempts to attach "bias" to its January 12, 2010 order handing over Sohrabuddin fake encounter case probe to CBI and said there was genuine apprehension that Gujarat police was shielding the "real culprits".

A day after accused Amit Shah's counsel Ram Jethmalani alleged that "bias" was writ large on the January 12 order as the presiding judge of the bench was under CBI scanner at that time in another case, a bench of Justice Aftab Alam and Ranjana P Desai said the court then had seen a pattern in Gujarat's response - first deny the fake encounter and then arrest only foot soldiers.

"When it became impossible for the Gujarat government to deny the fake encounter, they got hold of the foot soldiers so that investigations do not go beyond them. That was one of the reasons why the court ordered CBI probe," said Justice Alam, who was part of the bench headed by Justice Tarun Chatterjee which had passed the order on January 12 last year.

"The investigations by Gujarat police regarding the 13 accused, which included top police officials, were right. But the court felt that a cap was being put on the real culprits," the bench said.

Jethmalani said CBI investigations had not revealed anything new other than what was found by the Gujarat police SIT headed by Geetha Johri except for fabricating evidence against former minister Amit Shah to show him in bad light.

He said of the alleged 200 extortion complaints received against Shah, which was presented in the status report before the apex court, not a single pertained to the BJP leader's involvement in any crime.

The bench indicated its agreement with Jethmalani's submissions and told additional solicitor general Vivek Tankha, who appeared for CBI, that "the complaints appears to be absolute trash".

"Mr Tankha, you (the CBI) are supposed to be the finest investigating agency. You have to respond to all these lapses and deficiencies. The insinuations (against Shah) were wholly unwarranted and totally unfair," the bench said.

However, it wanted Jethmalani to explain the 24 calls made by Shah as deputy home minister to a deputy superintendent of police between November 22 and 25, 2005 which coincided with the abduction and killing of Sohrabuddin and his wife Kausar Bi by Gujarat police.

The bench said, "This itself is very strange, a minister of state calling a DSP and that too so many times."

Jethmalani said there was nothing strange in this as a boy was kidnapped on November 25 and the abductor was calling on cell phone to demand ransom. The government needed a cyber crimes expert, which the DSP was, to trace the caller. The boy was traced on November 25 and the calls immediately stopped, he said.

Jethmalani said the DSP had not been linked to Sohrabuddin fake encounter and was accused only of helping in the cremation of Kausar Bi, which allegedly happened on November 29, 2005. "If that is so, then why did the minister not call him from November 25 onwards," he asked. The arguments will continue on Tuesday.

Well to be fair, Amit Shah is very much a goon and it works for him and BJP. Unlike the Harvard educated fools in Congress, he knows this country and its thinking. Demolishing every other party in UP in 2014 was a testament to that.
