I have a similar problem. My 20 Mbps connection is throttled to 8 Mbps (1024 KB/s) with torrents. I guess ISPs do that to limit the single biggest zero-profit use of bandwidth (peer-to-peer data transfer).

Yes, 20 Mb/s:

Rs. 2500/month, and yes, it's totally unlimited. I end up transferring around 150~170 GB per month.

/\/\/\ How come that is so cheap? I pay 1200+ for a 1mbps unlimited plan per month and download like 30-40 gbs.

Beam is a Hyderabad-based company, with their own datacenter here. They even offer 1 Gbps to enterprises. They're expanding to all over Andhra Pradesh.

The speed you have, with the monthly rental is too good. Bangalore sucks!

I have no download limit on my Reliance connection, but the connection goes down once every 2 weeks. They fix it the next day though.

As for downtime, it is very less. They have service branches all over the city, even if there's downtime, it's rectified in 15 minutes. I have the cell number of the "internet wallah" (the actual technician who looks after my colony) in my phonebook, so I don't have to go through a lame call-center and red-tape to get something fixed. There is a call-center, but Beam allows (encourages) us to deal directly with the technicians.

No maintanence probs? I had lot of hassles with most networks...
Like I said, they're low, and they give you the cell number of the technician incharge of your colony to deal with problems. No call-center bullcrap.

Yep, thats good. So, you recommend it?
BTW, how many times would the net be down, if at all? Reliance, gave me probs atleast once a week...
